Last word (maybe!) on why you want an author website

You want an author website (with contact info) so when you enter a drawing

and your email bounces (cause Outlook got configured incorrectly)

and I look for an alternative way to contact you

and the only avenues are Facebook or LinkedIn

both of which require me to join to even TRY to send you a message,

well, I stop trying to find you.

Thank god this was ONLY a drawing for a free book and not a request for a full ms.

Ok, ok, I’m working on my website today. Fingers crossed.
I’ve tried before (twice) but gave up when they were too frustrating to set up.
Looks like it will be a lot like my instagram but with less pie.

Anything that allows you post an email address where you can be reached is all you need.

And I feel your pain on the complexity of setting these damn things up.
My walls were blue from the spewed curse words in early 2000's when I was first working on this.

Last word this week, anyway!

It was a lot tougher in the early 2000s than it is today. There are numerous ways for non-techies to build a web site now. The easiest, of course, is to have a stranger run up to you on the street, hand you several thousand dollars in cash "to pay for a custom website, then run away.

But there are easy ways to do it yourself, as well.

(73 words not counting this parenthetical (87 with), but I haven't posted much lately)

Exactly so. Thank you for the reminder.

Janet, Do you know of good websites for setting up a website?

If you need to set up a website/blog, check out https://wordpress.org/. I've been using WP for 10 years and never found a reason to change. There are plenty of free design templates that are easy to set up. Yes, it will take you some time to set up your site (just selecting the best template to use can take hours if you're as picky as me!), but it's worth the time investment if you want to draw people and entice them to read your stuff. Even if your site is just a contact page (and I'd encourage you to make it more than that--put some content out there!), it will be someone's first impression of you so you want to make it appealing.

Anyway... there's my 12c (darn that inflation)...

This suggests there might be another visitor to Carkoon. Funny, it's easy to get here, but I haven't seen any listings for outgoing flights.

I hope NLiu has good gardening chops because this doesn't even look like the kale I abhor.

Welcome 136. We'd leave the light on for ya if only we could find one.

Hey, John, your wife forwarded this lovely embroidered pillow... awww, look--it's a cute little cupid arrow through a heart... no... wait, that's a dagger... oh, and there's blood dripping from the heart... uhh, maybe we should regift this to the mayor of Carkoon. She likes this kind of thing. 😱

Colin, I thought you might be mayor of Carkoon, but you've probably figured out a clever escape route by now.

That definitely sounds like my wife, except she'd skip the embroidered pillow and go straight to my heart if she had a spare dagger.

I'm still hoping for 136 to show up and share the 7 Drafts book they might have won.

I do know that I need at least a blog if I am going to get published. It is probably a reason that I am not, yet. A blog is scary, though. Can I keep one up and exciting enough to get more than an occasional comment? IDK

Miss the old days of Carkoon, back when I opened the bar next to where Colin had his office. Too bad I didn't walk over and introduce myself before he sicced Dena on me. Yes, I owe you a beer, dear.

John, to my regret I am about as green-fingered as a cooked crab. But I did manage to grab this bottle of rocket powered wasabi sauce before the Carkoon police hustled me out the front door. If it doesn't go with kale, we can use it for emergency taste bud-ectomy. What say you?
