Jet

This is Jet.
Jet!
He should be MY cat, don't you think: JetReidLiterary!
He's the marquis name!

The only way to get him is to wrest him from Claudie Wilson's loving foster home.
He got neutered this week, and the vet told me he’s about 5 months old, not 7 as we believed. And the vet said he’s Abyssinian. Not sure where that came from. I thought Abbys were reddish.
He’s a darling boy, very happy and affectionate. Loves me to stand by the window with him in my arms, and he purrs like a little lawn mower. He has a soft ball that he chases and carries around in his mouth.

I'm plotting as we speak!
Who's with me??

En route!

Absolutely your cat, JetReid! What a great descriptor--purrs like a little lawn mower. I'm ready for a road trip. Wait, what were those again?!

That is YOUR fella! If I wasn't renovating a schoolroom and trying to revise a proposal, I'd offer to drive! The name is enough...but the lawnmower purr just seals the deal.

you betcha! Someone will help transport. There are devoted feline rescuers everywhere.

We drove a thousand miles for our two. Met them on the internet of course and couldn't turn back.

That's my Ramona and the Brother from another Planet, AKA Harper. Almost 16 years old.

Road Trip...! I'm in. Drop that route just a little bit south. You can swing by and hang out at the sanctuary for a few days before we head west.

That's one precious kitty, by the way. We used to have a horse named Jet. Gorgeous, pure black 17.2 Irish Sport Horse. From Ireland. Crappy life before he landed here.

But... Road Trip!

You absolutely need this guy! He'd fit right in :) And you do know, there are transporters out there that deliver rescues to their new homes, regardless of how far it is. Just sayin'...

I'll drive, you're shotgun.
Oh wait, I have to get an oil change.
I'll drive, you're shotgun.
Oh wait, I'm the drop off and pick-up wheels for my preschool granddaughter.
I'll drive you're shotgun. Oh wait, we'll be quarantined for two weeks once we get back.
Um...have a nice trip.

Me again... I was curious about Claudie's vet saying Jet was an Abyssinian. I also thought Abys were typically reddish or fawn colored. So off to Google I went. Turns out they can be any color, including black. Interesting. And as my mama used to say, "You learn something every day."

Wait, I thought we were all onboard with kidnapping the previous puppy? I never thought following a literary agent would thrust me into the torrid underworld of support animal kidnapping.

All black cats, like my departed Bill, are good luck.

I'm not sure if this is conspiracy to kidnap or catnap (daydream?) but I'll bring snacks - and catnip, just in case.

Richelle is in NM... and she loves black cats.

When planning a covert-op, I recommend the covert part. ;-).

What a smug look on that little Literary Agent's familiar.

So, come on, I've got a full tank of gas and the top was pulled down, until our morning rain, at least.

Go for it! Black cats are the best!

Well, I'm in New Mexico and will need to drive to California soon to clear out my apartment. And I happen to have a kitty crate for the car from having to move my furry friend recently. Cat rustling would certainly be my kind of crazy...

We had a black cat growing up. Loved him to pieces! And a road trip sounds great... but I'm guessing swinging past here (Queensland, Australia) might be problematic. Have fun, though!

Growing up I had a black cat called Muffin (my Mum had burnt some muffins that day and it was the only thing I could think of that was black - I was only about 4 years old at the time).

Covid restrictions make it difficult to road trip. So head east and approach from the western side. It could be an international Reider trip, with lots of stops in exotic locations. Shouldn't be a problem, sharks swim, right?!
