Ahhh the Alot! It's always cool to see references to Hyperbole and a Half in the wild. The forum Allie created for her blog fans was the place I found some of my best online friends.
Yes! I just recommended the Hyperbole and a Half book to a library patron when I was on the desk a couple Saturdays ago (and another patron, who did not engage with me, was EXTREMELY happy and amused). I also sent that patron for Jennie Lawson's books, telling them that there are times when I'm reading that blog or those books that I suddenly start laughing until I cry and my husband has to wait until I can breathe again to find out what's going on.
Ew-ew! (raises hand) I know the answer. Alot is a biblical term, as in, after his wife turned into a pillar of stone and he walked away; she was technically alot.
Aw, that Alot reminds me of a wonderful book I picked up at my college bookstore long ago, The Garden of Eloquence: A Rhetorical Bestiary by Willard R. Espy. That book is alot of fun, though Anastrophe still haunts my nightmares. Glad you're on the mend, Janet!

I'm glad to hear you're feeling better. My wife and I both had that crap that's going around, and we were running on fumes for 3 weeks.
