It is a cold winter day, overcast, with no sun heating the apartment.
Her Grace and Sleekness thinks it's a bit nippy so she steps off her (heated) pillow and burrows under the afghan currently hogged by the Waitress in Residence who is napping on the couch.
It is very cozy under the afghan, and Her Grace stretches out to better warm her tummy.
As she stretches, she notices there is a faint odor of tuna.
Yes, it's coming from the Waitress, who seems to have tuna ...somewhere on her.
Her Grace and Sleekness investigates carefully.
Abruptly the quiet is shattered by a scream that leaves Her Grace certain the world is coming to an end.
She notices Waitress is no longer under the afghan, or even on the couch.
She's hanging from the chandelier, yowling, although no where near as musically as Her Grace.
"Alexa! Call the Fire Department to get me off this ceiling!"
Before Her Grace has had time to resettle on her heated cushion on her royal chair, there is a brutal pounding on the door, and a number of bipeds race into the room, collect Waitress from the chandelier, and settle her on the Royal Couch.
It's clear they are mystified how Waitress teleported eight feet into the air. Her Grace gives a disdainful sniff. Only a biped would think an 8-foot-leap to be remarkable.
She hears one ask "how did you get on the ceiling?"
And Thumbs says, "The cat licked my lips. While I was sleeping."
"It's not MY fault you had a toasted tuna sandwich for lunch." |

hahaha! First thing this morning!
Try Cat TV on Amazon Prime to entertain the Duchess. Ramona found it mesmerizing until we tried reruns. Well, it is winter. And a very gloomy forecast for up here in ski country this weekend.
The LOOK on her FACE! I laughed loudly enough to draw a reproachful glance from the puppy, currently chewing her newest "super chewer" toy which...while not intact, quite, is still safe, and that's saying something.
Oh, my goodness! I'm laughing and shaking my head as I picture this. The expression on DoY's face is purrfect. Poor Thumbs -- it's a wonder you didn't go through the ceiling instead of stopping at the chandelier.
Next time, share your tuna, Janet. You'll - uh - sleep better.
So funny! I love "Waitress in Residence."
It's a rainy morning here. Ordinarily, I like being outside in the rain. But this isn't the best weather for my plan to use my much-hoped-for Christmas present--a pitchfork, of course--to aerate my compost pile this morning. What to do? My pet microbes need oxygen! Have a great day, Reef Fam.
Bwahahaha!!! Good thing I'd set down my coffee cup.
Ha...good thing you're not a Milk Bone junkie living with a 200 lb. St. Bernard.
Thanks for the morning laugh.
Hee hee. Serves Waitress right for not sharing with DoY.
Apparently the Waitress needs to start eating cucumber sandwiches.
Perhaps the DoY has been reading Peanuts and decided to engage in a little Snoopy/Lucy role play?
*snort* That is so gross. Hilarious, but gross.
My cat sometimes likes to be held very close, so she can tuck her little head into my neck and purr. Very sweet. Until the other day when she suddenly re-adjusted herself and purred directly into my ear. Just the memory makes me shudder.
Haha!!!
When we got pepper I discovered there’s a whole other dimension to pet kisses. Apparently dogs aren’t content just licking the outside of your mouth. Erg!
Ha ha, Waitress in Residence.. Well done, DoY, well done!
I too have staff now - ever since I got Fiancé an apron for Christmas, I have a Chef in Residence. He makes breakfast, tea and dinner. While I write. :D
*thumbs up*
I might have to prepare my own food soon again, though, if Chef in Residence gets a job in his real profession. He's got an interview soon next week. Pleeeease.
Fingers crossed.
Of course I'll make lunch myself then. And the dishes can wait until the evening. ;) ;)
It isn't nice to scare the poor cats. They can get vindictive when you do.
We had a longer than three hour cold front last week. Our Ms. Duchess got cold and decided on a warm spot to sleep. Too bad that it was on top of my head. When she makes up her mind it is an impossible thing to dissuade her. We never did reach a compromise.
So, no cats or fish are involved, and it's unlikely to warm you up (maybe it will? I'm not your boss) but my first story of 2020 was published today! "For Thine is the Kingdom" is in Truancy 7.
That's more action than most of us gets.
Ha!!!
Breath mints next time?!
LMAO! This is too funny! You should publish this.LOL LOL LOL!
