After reading this interview, that book is now on my to-read list! Also, the series mentioned in the last part, The Twelve Kingdoms, is really great. I've been reading those for a while, they're amazing.More Japanese novels need to get translated. I'm learning Japanese so that I can read the ones that don't (like the work of Ryohgo Narita)...
