1. You're not an "emerging writer" if you've never been published.
2. I am not a "prospective agent."
3. When you put "Represented by: (your name)" I'm confident you don't know enough to be querying.
4. Anonymous references are (1) an oxymoron and (2) make me confident you don't know enough to be querying.

Someone has spent too much of their weekend with work slush and not enough with the adult beverage kind.
awe. 'emerging writer'- sounds like a butterfly breaking out of its cacoon. Represented by: creepy query girl:)
How about...being a prospective (or prospecting) writer emerging from the depths of the query pile.
Anonymous references? I'm wondering what exactly they put. Quotes about their work without attributing them to anyone? "References available upon request"? Or something worse?
When I read "emerging writer," all I could think about was ALIEN.
Well, I'm certainly not an "emerging writer"! The heat index is 115 today and I'm in an air conditioned room. No way in hell am I emerging!
Dear Emerging Agent:
While you're prospecting for new writers, I just wanted you to know someone referred me to you, so I'd like to represent myself to you as an emerging client.
Love,
Philangelus
Oxymoron - isn't that the guy who advertised clothes detergent, and died because he inhaled too much of his oxy-white stuff?
Here in the South we'd say, "bless his/her heart."
