Barbara Poelle is on the loose!

My most beloved slithery colleague Barbara Poelle is roaming the conference world in the next couple weeks. You can catch the two of us in Myrtle Beach and Boston. She'll be the one working. I'll be the other one.

If you've got a chance to meet with Barb, here are some questions you'll want to be SURE to ask.

Ms. Poelle is attending the Wisconsin Regional Writers' Association's fall conference in Eau Claire this weekend. We are really nice people in the upper midwest; no pitch sessions.

Oh don't let that stop you! I know for a fact that Barb likes to hear pitches in the ladies room; at the breakfast table; in the bar; while she's swimming; and, in the locker room, preferably when she's just doffed her underpants.

In fact, she's so open to pitches I recommend you prepare a one page dramatic reading and PERFORM your pitch for her.

And then mention I said "howdy."

If I pitch her in the ladies room I'd be arrested. I could slip twenty or so pages under the door. We are a small convesntion so it will be easier to stalk her.

Actually, I do plan on saying "howdy." I also plan on asking her how business is treating her. Too bad she doesn't rep SF. Still, I wouldn't pitch her, or anyone, unsolicited. I would send her a query though.

You wouldn't be the first man to get arrested approaching Barb.

Just attach a twenty to the twenty, you'll be aces.

Great Q & A with Barbara. Thanks for posting this. Nothing like a sense of humor to inject a bit of reality into things. By the way, Janet, nice meeting you at RMFW Conference two weekends ago. I found your panel quite informative and of course, funny.

Oh for the love of....Keith, I may not represent Sci-fi but I have many friends who do I would be happy to point you towards. You, my dear friend, may pitch awayyyyyy!

See you both in Myrtle Beach. Barbara already rejected me, but I'd gladly get her drunk to be rejected again. It was the funniest damn query response I've ever received...

I think you both should come to Paducah, Kentucky. You haven't lived until you've been to Paducah.
Honest.

Barbara Poelle may not represent the kind of writing I lean towards, but I can honestly tell you that I have had the most fun reading this thread and the comments that followed. In my opinion, a sense of humor is an absolute MUST to survive as a writer and, well... life. I must say, you are surviving quite admirably, if you ask me. Keep smiling... the ducks will love you for it. - Yaya
