Hiatus 13

We are about to go chop down a Christmas tree because I have insisted to my husband that we go all out for baby's first Christmas even though she won't remember it.

Merry Christmas from Northern Michigan.

Note: I meant to post this on Christmas Eve, but it got mis-numbered.
Clearly this vacation is needed!

Well, belated Merry Christmas.

It's late in the evening, Dec 26 here. Back home (Canada) we call Dec 26 Boxing Day (apparently it's also St. Stephen's Day). I don't know what Americans call today.

After 3 days of hosting our relatives, we're finally having our private Christmas; they're all on trains bound for home.

Unsurprisingly, we did not have a white Christmas here near the Equator. Climate change never works to your advantage ;(

I hope you all found joy in your holiday celebrations.

Merry After-Christmas-Sales-Day. Also here in SoCal we've had two days of rain, a tornado watch, and the two major freeways leaving Los Angeles are currently closed for heavy snow conditions.

I hope you and your family had a wonderful Christmas!

Hello fellow Michigander (I'm now residing in GA). Enjoy every second with your new baby. I miss the snow, except when I'm tending to the 3 dozen-plus horses who live at our sanctuary. Which, is every day, so I guess I don't miss the snow.

I'm not a "it's the most wonderful time of the year" kind of person. Husband Jim had to work yesterday (he's a police officer). I was here alone and spent the day on a tractor. Well, I wasn't really alone - I had those aforementioned 3 dozen-plus horses, 6 dogs, 3 cats, 2 pigs to keep me company.

To Stephen and all our Canadian friends, Happy Boxing Day!

Happy day-after-Christmas - or Thursday, for those celebrating otherwise! I hope everyone's day includes some R&R, a nice beverage, and/or a few minutes of peaceful reading time.

I love the snowy scene from Michigan and hope the tree expedition and holiday were a success for OP & family :-)

Happy Day-After-Christmas. I hope baby Michigander enjoyed the tree. I was able to celebrate my grandson's first Christmas with him. Double O, as he is called, was mesmerized by all the lights and music. It was a delightful day.

Speaking of today, the Feast of St. Stephen, and winter weather...

Good King Wenceslas
Good King Wenceslas looked out
On the feast of Stephen
When the snow lay round about
Deep and crisp and even
Brightly shone the moon that night
Though the frost was cruel
When a poor man came in sight
Gath'ring winter fuel

Happy Boxing Day from another Michigander (a tradition I tried to start but hubs just doesn't 'get it') however, we did not have snow. A fact that made me sad yesterday since...Michigan!

Hope everyone had a wonderful day yesterday and has a quiet rest of the week.

I hope baby's first Christmas was lovely for all of you, and that the fresh tree scent still fills your home.

OP, I hope you got the tree and the celebration worthy of a first Christmas for your baby.

Some comments about yesterday's comments:
Congrats on your upcoming book, KMK!
Thanks for the link, Craig F!
Casual T, I loved the music video and your website!

Well, Merry Christmas-without-day-after, everyone!
Because in Germany (no, I'm not in Germany but, obviously, I still know about this!) it IS still Christmas. Today is called "2. Weihnachtsfeiertag" meaning 2nd Christmas Day.

Christmas in Germany lasts 2 and a half days - shops close on 24th December at around 2pm and won't open before 27th. I'm always 'confused' when shops are open in other countries as if 26th December was a normal day ;).

It is good to know that My Queen can be fallible on occasion.

If you squint just right that can look like sand on the side of the road. That would make it look more like my home. It was 79 degrees here today. That isn't normal but I'll take it.

You are welcome Barbara.

I hope the baby made the Christmas magical for all those who will remember it. How serene the world looks in snow.
