coming out of hiatus hibernation to let you know

that the amazing, awe-inspiring, and downright terrifying Barbara Poelle has a book coming on 1/14/20.

Funny You Should Ask is a collection and expansion of her columns in Writers Digest.

People are already talking about it!
Am now officially linked to @Bpoelle forever in metadata which I think is the publishing industry equivalent of putting a ring on it? Her advice is spot on and so, so funny, and avail for preorder now.
--Holly Root
So my amazing agent wrote this book. You should buy it you, guys, because it contains all of @Bpoelle's awesome advice but the book is unlikely to flagellate you with stinging nettles or tell you to write faster because it needs a new handbag. Win-win-WIN!

"How much vodka went into this?"
    --Ingrid von Peepenskeeven
"Why am I not in it?"
 --Felix Buttonweezer
 "Entirely too much jocularity."

   --Miss Picklepuss
"I'm getting this right now! She's even funnier than you are, Janet"
"Yes!! I've enjoyed Ms. Poelle's column at WD for a long time. Definitely on my TBR. Should be on yours too, writer friends."

--Colin Smith

This went right on my to-be-read list as soon as I saw Janet tweet about it! And I love all these endorsements. Colin is famous again.

Yippi !

My question:
When is Reid or not to Reid coming out.

Click! Boom! It's mine now.

Yes, when is the Shark publishing her book? That really is Felix Buttonweezer's only shot.

Oh! There's a nice surprise. :) I stand by my comment, though. This book will probably be the closest thing to my dream book on publishing (SNARK AND SHARK'S GUIDE TO PUBLISHING by Poelle and Reid), so I'll take what I can get.

But I expect this to become the companion book to WRITING WITHOUT RULES.

If that's not an incentive to buy it, I don't know what is.

This is all kinds of fabulous - including the tweets and comments.

Poor Felix being slighted like that, I almost out of solidarity wasn't going to preorder...not!

Happy to see I'm not the only one who immediately started coming up with names for a prospective book by Ms. Reid. I'm thinking SHARK PROOF or SHARK BAIT personally!

also, i can't hear "shark bait" without following it up with "ooh ha ha" from finding nemo.

Ha, love the strike through. Does DoY have an opinion? or is she too far above books?

Sounds like a good read...

Now we just need that book on querying reef style.

Truly a Christmas miracle.

Oh fantastic, I'll have to recommend to my boss that we get it for the library!

We did a Big NonFiction Weed earlier this year and the writing books we kept are good ones and the ones we weeded well, they needed to go. So the section needs some beefing up again!

Going onto my TBR pile - at the top :)

And great idea, Jennifer! I'll get a copy for my Library too... there are some budding writers among our students. And one of my Year 6 girls is also published!
