Zen! |
I attached a photo of me and my horse. His name is Zen (he is not zen). I rescued him off the track. After many years of riding he’s now retired and lives on my friend’s farm, where he plays with chickens and regularly jumps the fence to roll in the neighbor’s puddles.

Beautiful picture! Reminds me of when I was ten and pretending to be National Velvet.
He's beautiful!
Awesome picture, great form.
CynthiaMc I too thought of myself as National Velvet except that I rode western, wore jeans and an old pair of winter-boots. They were the only shoes I had with heals. The horse I rode was named Bill. They had to wake him up for my first ride. He and I became fast friends. Not as handsome as Zen but he was a sweetie.
Zen is gorgeous! Sounds like he's got a fantastic retirement :)
When I was little, I took a few riding lessons every summer (I think it was like, 4 or 6 of them, in July and August, on Thursdays). I got horse crazy after I read the Black Stallion books and thought I was going to be a jockey. Of course I was the only one in my family with this level of interest in horses and the riding lessons they got me were.....western style. And due to the start-stop nature, I never progressed past the canter. And then I got too tall anyway.
What a beautiful horse! It sounds like he's making a proper job of his retirement :-)
Nice picture of a great moment.
Graceful rider on a magnificent horse.
Beautiful horse and picture. Reminds me of my aunt and her horse, Annie. Thanks so much for sharing Zen with us.
Horses—my favorite. Every time I see a show jumper I think “I want to do that!” And then I remember how much I hate falling off and change my mind. :P He sounds like a happy guy with a great life.
You make a beautiful pair! I was a horse-crazy kid, too. When I was 14, my mother finally convinced my dad to buy me a horse. Turns out, I have no natural riding ability. I do like horses, though, as friends.
You and Zen look like a great pair, and make jumping look easy. I rode H/J in my younger days, but when I turned 40 and wanted to start riding again, I opted for dressage, because falling on the flat is a tiny bit better than falling over a fence. I still have all the equipment and clothes. All I'm missing is the horse.
What a handsome boy...! And you, OP, look beautifully accomplished and in perfect form. Lovely.
A beautiful animal, and part of a mutual admiration thing too.
Hi Zen-not-Zen! You look very handsome and high energy. I hope you enjoy your chickens and puddles for many years to come.
