Valu!

Valu!

This is Valu. She's mostly a pet-on-loan. She belonged to the Peace Corps here (Ofu Island in the Kingdom of Tonga) three years ago. When he left, she went to live with the next-door neighbors. However, now that I'm here she pokes her head in now and again. Particularly when I have grilled fish. She likes chasing the lizards, but they stick to the ceiling when she's around and I've only seen her catch two. Which is pretty impressive for the little beast.

I hope you are writing about your experience on Ofu Island. And more about Valu!
Since I don't know where that is I'm going to have to google it.

I too want to hear more about all of this! Ofu Island...I don't know it, but I'm going to have to. As to Valu, she evidently enjoys being a bit of a community cat. You're blessed to have her visit. :) She's adorable.

Valu looks looks like she takes care of business. No sitting still for a pretty photo for her!

What a lovely looking island cat. They're often so scrawny and uncared for. Someone clearly loves this little one.

I know a Tongan named Ofu. I didn't realize it was the name of an island. Valu looks like a mini-mighty hunter.

Valu looks like an intrepid hunter. Love that intent expression.

OK, so of course I've heard of Tonga (didn't know it was a Kingdom, however), but had to google Ofu Island. Because I wasn't sure, exactly, where it was. Google made it look fairly substantial in size. But I had to zoom out to find the nearest landmass. And zoomed out more. And then more. Ofu, and even Tonga, had all but disappeared before I recognized Fiji and New Zealand. Good lord, what a tiny place. But it looks beautiful.

So now I'm all full of questions about you, dear lurker OP, and what I'm assuming is a very interesting life in a place most of us know nothing about. But every time I interrog-- um, politely ask questions of lurkers, they run away, screaming into the night. Probably.

Good job, luring out all these lurkers, Janet. Maybe during your next vacation you could entice a few of them to tell us more about themselves, along with pics of their pets.
