Happy Sunday!

What do you have your eye on this lovely Sunday?

I'm finishing the last in the Lewis Man Trilogy by Peter May. Fabulous! Beyond that, taking it easy while I recuperate but starting tomorrow, back to the business of living.

That cat is the bomb! (shhh, don't tell DoY I said that)

I'm having a laaaazy Sunday on the couch with the puppy. Her paws are twitching in puppy dreamland, and I'm playing Morrowind, a game that came out while we were in college but works in the current Xbox.

My writing group had a reading/signing yesterday for the anthology that we released, so I just feel like unwinding today.

I have my eye on jetreidliterary.blogspot.com, my WIP, and the other half my as of yet to be eaten father's day cookie... Happy Sunday everyone!

Revisions, revisions, lovely revisions.
My grandma used to say she was as happy as a pig in p00p. That’s me.
Now that I think about it, though, it would be a very odd pig that would be pleased under those circumstances.

I'm having my eyes on the computer - my new WIP, my upcoming novel (trying to figure out which bits will be best to read out for its launch next month), this blog, and just too many other things to distract me ;).

I'm also on the couch right now, like Jennifer; no puppy :( but mainly because I played tennis the other day (first time in over 3 years!) and EVERYTHING hurts. And man, we've got STAIRS.

DayQuil and a box of tissues. These summer colds are the worst! I've been too fuzzy-headed to get much writing done, but I have had more time for reading which is still a win!

For home from church, planning on chilling with my dad and making sure he has a lovely father's day

I'm getting ready for the Dallas Fort Worth Writers Conference (DFWcon) next weekend.

Is anyone else from the reef going?

I'm looking at books, books, and more books. We're Doing Stuff to the house, so all my towering stacks of boxes (I ran out of shelf space long ago) need to be re-organised and redistributed. (I actually managed to gather a teensy little pile to give away to the secondhand shop - yes, there still IS one - but it's offset by a huuuuge plastic tub overflowing with gosh-that-was-good-want-to-read-it-agains. And that's only the paper-&-print copies. My virtual e-bookshelves are in a similar state, but fortunately I can stash those away in cyberspace (or buy more on the sly) where my husband can't moan about tripping over them. (He has a point, believe me.)

My name is Bonnie Shaljean and I am a bookaholic.

Awww. Gorgeous kitty. I miss our Smoky.

I had a humongous strawberry/grilled chicken/feta/pecan salad. I've been reading "Prisoners of Geography" by Tim Marshall. Interesting take on history and politics. Where I should have my eyes? I'm all set to do some serious revising (again) on my WiP.

I'm watching the radar because we're under a severe thunderstorm watch until 11. I've also got my eye on the tumbleweeds of dog hair I can't quite muster the energy to care about enough to vacuum up, and the glass of wine enabling my laissez-fairedness.

It's Monday morning here so I'm working - or will be in a few minutes. I had a funeral on my Sunday. Nancy was 84 and had lived a very full life - as she herself had put it "she did it her way" (but sad nonetheless).

Reading Kory Stamper's "Word by Word: the Secret Life of Dictionaries" at your recommendation. It is thoroughly wonderful. :)

Traditional Father's Day for me. Visited my kid's grave site and then took his fly rod out to catch a few fish with it.

Got rained on, but that fit the mood.

Trying to add in some Alien angst into the sci-fi thing before tossing it back into the trenches. Make the protags seem to be caught between the government and Aliens at the gates.

I took a load of vintage clothing gleaned from Goodwill to the local hipster Exchange and traded it for $65 in store credit which I will leverage into designer brands to sell online.

And then I did the dishes.

OK, so I just finished reading Dreyer’s English (loved it), which I bought on Janet’s recommendation. Then this morning I bought Miss Thistlebottom’s Hobgoblins: The Careful Writer’s Guide To The Taboos, Bugbears, and Outmoded Rules of English - on Dreyer’s recommendation. Now, on Jo Conn’s recommendation of Janet’s recommendation, I’ve just bought the Kory Stamper book. See what I mean?

Today my significant other found a tiny duckling running around the flower beds, peeping for his MIA mom. There were a lot of windy storms here last night so I think he was separated from that. We drove around to all the nearby ponds till we found a family with similar-sized babies. Per wildlife expert, I ran at the poor things (in shorts and flip-flops no less), splashing and scattering them everywhere, and tossed the little one into the bunch. Here's to hoping, little one.

Craig, if I could hug you in person, I would. I am thinking of you and all the dads out there.

@Craig... It is heartbreaking to hear this. I can not imagine...

Craig,

I am so sorry. They say time heals all wounds, but it doesn't. Some ease a bit, but they never heal. June is tough on my mother because it's my little brother Stevie's birthday and anniversary of his death. He died three weeks before his sixth birthday. That was sixty years ago.

My heart breaks for you. Know that people do understand and you are loved.

Happy Father's Day to the father's out there. I've been going through RC a bit on some early feedback I've received. Nothing dramatic.

Mostly, I've been sorting through writing and cookbooks that will go to the thrift shop to help the poor. I'll go through some more stack tomorrow, but I need to destroy a cabinet tonight. It must be done. It was a bad cabinet. That or I had some extra cabinets left over and I'm going to deconstruct them to build missing cabinets.

I found a new home for the Victorian collector dolls acquired at a garage sale. They shall watch over me from the dresser as I sleep, which isn't creepy at all.

@Craig, same as C-T said. Thinking of you today.

There seems to be a spamish comment just prior to this one!

My Sunday was spent going to yoga, then to my favorite coffee place in my little town, where the balance of summer strangers is starting to outweigh the number of familiar faces I see there. Then home to wade through all the emails I ignore all week.

Then I made a rather stellar gluten free pizza. I'd be happy to share my recipe if anyone wants it.

Forget the recipe... Send over a slice! ;)
