But my Saturday went to the lambs. Or should I say I went to the lambs, as on my walk I saw that our neighbors now had four baby lambs. Two sets of twins, the youngest just five days old. I got to pet a sweet one named Cow (because of her brown dappled coloring). My insides were gooey the rest of the day, with nary a thought of World Domination!
At the moment, I'm plotting the next scene in my book and how I'm going to fit in the time to write it. But World Domination is on the list, right after cleanng out my junk drawer.
My Sundays (and Mondays) are always much very dog based, they're my days off from the library! So Ulrike and I get to spend the wholllllle day together!
Today so far we've played tug with rope toys, done some clicker training (reinforcing what she already knows, like "down" and "sit", etc. and working on things like moving in a direction I indicate, "stay", giving me either paw on cue [she offers right paw exclusively, but is starting to realize that her left paw is offerable as well]), gone out back to eat some snow (she did that, not me), and then I dumped her food in a cookie sheet instead of a bowl and she investigated that novel experience with enthusiasm.
She's kind of sleepy now, though, so I'm going to try to get some work in on this story, which seems to be....not a short story. Maybe another novella? Maybe a novelette? We'll find out!
Sang for Mass this morning and popped into the Goodwill boutique on the way home. Found a gorgeous Vera Bradley bag and makeup case combo and a beautiful basket that should be perfect for holding hangars (decluttered my closet yesterday-long overdue).
It's way too pretty to stay inside so the pups and I went to the park. We're in that rare beautiful period in central Florida where it's not too humid and the heat hasn't set in yet so we try to take advantage of it.
Planting seeds in the front flower bed now. I can grow flowers anywhere in the yard except the front where people will actually see them. Y'all pray for me. The north side of the house is a wasteland. The city refuses to reroute the road to the pretty side where everything is blooming and we're right up the street from the garden club. It's embarrassing.
I'm in the process of designing a new world, this one is too worn around the edges for me to attempt domination. A couple of hundred years of bad decisions are catching up to it.
I am plotting fishing dominance. Six new flies have come out of my vice this past week and I have finally dialed the foam popper to precision in both size and sound.
Checked them out today, yesterday was help the neighbors day. Rebuilt a mower carburetor, fixed two sprinkler systems and cleared a house's gutters.
We had our sunshine yesterday. Today is drizzly. I've spent the day pulling together a presentation on Dale Evans that I'm giving tomorrow night. Now that it's done, I'm plotting what to wear and wondering if it would be overkill to show up in my red western boots.
It's Monday and I'm about to head to work. It's blustery, and cool (it is nearly a third of the way through autumn after all), and cloudy. I just want to crawl back into bed with a good book.
That's my boy! Yes, he was also plotting world domination when that picture was taken. Unfortunately, that one was taken shortly before our red one passed last year and his courage mostly died with her. No more world domination for him. Now, he spends his time sitting on me. Or laying on me. Or walking beside me. Or laying on my feet while I'm in the bathroom, or cooking dinner. Or his nose is against the glass while I shower because heaven forbid, I lock him out of the bathroom...so now, he leaves the world domination plans to me and he's just along for the ride, even if he thinks the domination part is his idea.
Nightmusic, how sad for Murphy. Animals get so attached to each other. I want to reach out and hug him.
Badger (Pepper San Badger) our last Aussie was so lost when Chili (Chili Pepper Red) died I thought she was going to starve herself to death. It was very touch and go for a while.
Fog, yes, that's my day. Gage the Wonder Dog decided to crawl under my bed at 3 am. My bed isn't very tall and he's an Aussie so he had to do this sideways. Then he played Tetris going back and forth and up and down. Finally, he crawled out next to the bed and curled up next to me. When I turned on the light to see if he was all right he looked at me with the most surprised expression, "Oh, you're awake?"
Awww - I want to hug Murphy, too. He looks like a swell dog.
Colin: Happy Birthday! I'm in your neck of the woods for a few days. Just got to Greensboro, NC for a visit with my mom. I came the roundabout way, via NYC, where I got to swim in the same waters as the QOTKU for a few days. Some highlights: walking across the Brooklyn Bridge, visiting the Statue of Liberty, hanging out at a cat cafe, and eating something called a pretzel croissant. Where have they been all my life?!
Julie Yes, Murphy stopped eating for a bit as well. I had him to the vet because he was dropping weight at an alarming rate. I finally started mashing a bit of canned food into his dry stuff when I fed him and he started eating again. But he mourned her for a long time. I still do too :(
He wasn't grieving anything in particular, like Murphy. He was just at a clingy stage. Wanted to follow me everywhere. Now he's in first grade, still very affectionate, but a little more independent.
nightsmusic: oh no, poor Murphy. And poor you; it is so goddamn hard to lose them. And our departed Elka's behavior was a lot like Murphy now, she had to be WITH you and ON you and would whistle whine through her nose and cry if she couldn't be. Ulrike is a little bit more independent, though she does want to be very sure of where everybody in the house is and what they're doing! Maybe.....maybe Murphy needs another partner in world domination? ;)
Julie: Ulrike's best friend is a border collie/aussie mix who LOVES crawling under the bed!

No, my foggy Sunday has not gone to the dogs.

We've all gone to the doctor. Lousy here with flu & pneumonia for weeks.
Supper foggy here in the Canadian prairies but I'm loving it.
Yes, plotting world domination right after I'm done with the procrastination.
That's not _the_ Murphy, is it? Because he sure looks ready to enforce his law.

I am busy plotting another exciting week of kale-based recipes.
INFPs don't dominate the world. We observe it. And then we are so stressed out that we binge on ice cream.
Looking at pictures from National Puppy Day!

There's so much plotting in my house right now. The kids are suspiciously quiet and I'm reworking this outline.
Also, Murphy looks like a Very Good Boy.

Happy Sunday, Everyone!

Hello Murphy!

Feel better, Kitty and fam! It's hard to plot when you're sneezy. I hope you are all well soon.
Jennifer Magrage --Me, too. And you're right.
Gone to the dogs? Quite the opposite! I've been enjoying a very nice birthday, courtesy of my amazing family. :)

Kitty, hope you get better soon.
Colin, Happy Birthday!

I've slept the day away.

Murphy's grieving behavior sounds like my Kindergartener until this year.
Colin Happy Belated Birthday!

Jennifer Kindergartner? :(
Did I spell it wrong?

I am sorry about your red dog.
Jennifer No, not at all! I was in dog mode and you were in kid mode and this old brain wasn't processing it. Now I'm smiling. :)
I think a lot of small children do that when they first go off to school.
