Is "migraine" a code word for "someone left the liquor cabinet unlocked" or have I been hanging out with the Urban Dictionary too long?
Oh, sympathy! Right, right, sorry. Ummmm ... see if there's anything left in the cabinet. That'll either make it better or make you forget where it hurts. Sympathy is my strong suit!
What a crummy way to spend a weekend. No apologies necessary. I hope you are fully back on your feet, and that your Monday holds something spectacular.
I need the time off anyway. I'm watching TV for Texas weather since I'm originally from Houston and my family and other relatives and friends are still there.
Lennon Julie lives in not-Texas these days, so I'm hoping she hereself is ok. I have a feeling she knows some folks who aren't ok though.
The pictures of Houston scare the snark out of me. When I think of the damage incurred here in NYC by Hurricane Sandy, I shudder to think of what Houston faces to dig out of this.
I don't know if this was a joke or not, but someone reported seeing a shark in a flooded area of Houston. Maybe even had taken a picture of it. Honest, I heard this on radio news.

Theresa, if it's the same shark photo I saw on the Weather Channel's website, it's a fake, according to the weather gods. Janet, with regards to Hurricane Sandy, where I live didn't even take the brunt of that storm. Yet we still had 60 MPH winds and no power for five days.
So yes, Houston, Corpus Christi and surrounding areas are facing horrendous circumstances right now and will be for time to come.The pictures I've seen are frightening, for sure. Sometimes Mother Nature is very nice and other times very nasty.
Read everyone's comments about Texas so have just been reading news sites. Wowzers. That's a lot of water! I hope all Reiders, and their friends and families are safe.
Lynne, that's probably the shark photo. Maybe I missed the part in the news story where they talked about it as a hoax. I guess it's been floating around since a few hurricanes back.
Theresa, what I saw was a clip on the Weather Channel website talking about four or five different photos that they said to not retweet etc., because they were fake shots. The shark was one of those shots, and there was another photo showing a tornado supposedly swallowing up a rainbow. Stuff like that.
However, the website did show a genuine photo of an alligator washed up onto a street and that critter looked hungry...yikes!
Hey, y'all. I've had a few people check in on me. Yes, I'm fine. My son in the area, the one who had the bull at Madison last year, is safe. My former editor, forever friend is in the Lake Dallas area and they haven't received the promised rain yet. I'm assuming my trainer friends in Houston were smart enough to ignore the idiot mayor and get their horses out. Some have been caught before and know the consequences of trying to haul dozens of horses in bad weather. I won't go into those details.
Anyway, thank you all for your concern. Please keep praying for Texas. More is to come. Word has it a family of six drowned earlier today. It's a very sad time. Thankfully, emergency crews were being set up before it hit, so that helps.
Glad to see you're ok Julie, I'm keeping my fingers crossed for your friends as well as Joe Snoes friends as well as anyone who has friends or family in that area.
And Janet, I am very glad the migraine finally relented and I'm hoping it stays at bay.
Joseph and Julie - sending prayers for Houston. My son's Simo and her family are leaving today with supplies for their kinfolk - one aunt's house is sheltering 5 families (all related). They canoed each other to "the island" as they call it. They are grateful they are all together and everything else can be replaced.
Our family in Austin reports monsoons but not much else. Our Texas A&M family had some flooding, nothing major. Sis in Dallas says it hasn't even rained there.
Sympathy for your miserable migraine. As a fellow sufferer, I feel your pain. I'm working on a theory that only highly intelligent, creative people get migraines. You're welcome.

In the Austin area, several hours from the coast, we got about 7" of rain over two days (at least where I live). Very few people had to deal with flooding here. Power outages from fallen limbs were a bigger problem here. Houston and coastal areas, of course, are another matter. Houston is in a no-win situation. With the metro area between six and seven million, there aren't enough roads to evacuate everyone in a week, much less a couple of days. And that assumes everyone could evacuate- many cannot. Hurricane Rita proved that with people gridlocked for days. People died in their cars, going nowhere.
