Your contest entries have cheered me immeasurably this morning! Herewith the results:
E.M. Goldsmith's entry captured cat-ness for sure
I am the cat.No, I am the cat.I am quite certain I am the cat.No. There can only be one.Yes, that's me.
as did Linda Strader's
"Well, she better be offering something good, or I'm not moving."
as did CynthiaMc's
While you're up, bring us some tuna and the remote.
as did Claire Bobrow
We are magnifique, n'est ce pas?
That was not a question.

And your mother is a lynx.
Homage to the last caption contest from Colin Smith
"This isn't the entry you were looking for."
"Colin didn't enter."
"You can go about your business."
"Move along."
I was wondering what the cats were celebrating earlier this
month!
Cecilia Ortiz Luna:
"Cinco De Meow!"
Perfection (of course) from Kate Higgins
Stereo mind reiders
Pure brilliance from Craig F:
“She makes me tired, Cation.”
“Take a couple of electrons, Anion. I’ll rub against her, replace them back by static.”
It will help to know that cation and anion are real things. This is a terrific entry on several levels and thus it is our winner today. Craig F if you'll email me your mailing address and what kinds of books you like to read, I'll get your prize in the mail.
Thanks to all of you who took the time to write and enter. Not only were your entries fun to read, they were therapeutic as well!

I laughed out loud at Craig's. A well-deserved prize.
EM Goldsmith's is a conversation that happens frequently in my house.
I also enjoyed Craig's entry very much.
As I read through the comments yesterday I mentally added each of the suggested remedies to Janet's treatment. By the end of the comment section she was held up in a cool dark room with an ice pack on her head, a heating pad on her feet, a glass of wine in one hand, whiskey in the other, and an oxygen mask on her face.
All together, it was much more of a distressing image than it ought to have been.
Glad to hear you're feeling better!
That sounds like an abysmal headache, Janet. Glad you're feeling better--at least well enough to post the contest results. It's nice to be part of a headache cure for once, not the cause of the headache. ;)
Well done, Craig!
Craig's entry was too clever. Akin to Forti's word bending talent. I loved his straight away. Although, all of you had me giggling like a mad woman all Saturday. The Reef does cats well.
I am glad her majesty's headache was banished. Nothing drops me in my tracks like a bad headache. Now there's the whole Monday thing to defeat. Off I go to pursue my obsolescence.
Congrats, Craig!! And all the other mentionables.
I need to hang out with scientists more often (yes, I had to look up the words). My horizons need broadening in that sphere!
Janet, glad you are feeling better. Sitting up to sleep is no fun.
Congratulations to Craig and all the mentions. Thanks for the humor to all.
Janet: Glad you're feeling better.
Congrats, Craig. I went to the dictionary to decipher. Well done.
Wonder why Colin didn't enter? Oh, is that getting old? Sorry, I'm always the last to know.
Those captions were a whole buncha funny! Congrats, Craig.
Glad you are feeling better, Janet. Headaches are no fun.
Congratulations, Craig!
So glad Her Sharkiness is feeling a bit better. This was a rough week for me as well - the demon allergies.
As a result, I missed this one, well done Craig! I bow in honor of good nerd humor.
Had I made the deadline, it was going to be something about the dopest album cover of 2017.
Terri
Congratulations, Craig - a great idea!
My mom ran low on cations Saturday; we went to lunch, and the battery in her car died. Many thanks to the extremely lovely lady at the restaurant who gave us a jump, and to the two great folks at Advance Auto Parts who installed a new battery. It cut into our antiquing, but I was glad I could help her and that it hadn't happened when my stepfather was in crisis.
LOTS of good entries yesterday. Hooray for a quickie contest! Are we up to #99.78 at this point?
Ah, but I failed to get Craig's until I looked the words up, and once I had, yes, brilliant!
Congrats, Craig! Well deserved!
I laughed at a lot of these, and agree Elise, The Reef does cats well!
So glad you're feeling better, Janet! Although intentionally sleeping upright is very different from waking up and finding oneself sitting upright. That's only happened once, but when it did, it as sort of creepy - like, where did I think I was going?
Have a good day, y'all!
I missed out on the contest because I spent the day cuddling with a pair of adorable kittens. (No, that's not a redundancy. These two were of more than merely average adorability.)
No, not mine. Though I have been appointed an official backup parent.
But I digress.
Was great to catch up with the captions this morning, and greater to hear that Janet is feeling better.
Bravo, Craig. Well done!
What batches of brilliance! Concatulations to everyone!
Many congrats Craig! Well done!
And glad you're feeling better, Janet:-)
Thank you, thank you, but...
A good concept is only half of the equation.
I saw three levels in this: the explanation of ionic functions, the exploitation of a missing p, and inferring the alieness of cats.
The execution is lacking though. It clunks instead of hums.
There is also the fact that I cheated by extending this story in the "best wishes" comments.
I therefore have to pass. I do thank you all and it gladdens my pea picking heart to know that some of you liked it. It also affirms that I can win here and that is special. The execution, though, is below the standards I want for myself and my writing.
Thanks again.
Um, congrats, Craig? I thought it was great.
I mean, mine was about cats staring at an owner 'taking a dump'. Not sure that was 'humming' :) Yours was fine and besides, QOTKU liked it. Don't contradict the Queen!
Liked the others, too. Super funny, folk!
Sorry about the migraine. They are no fun.
Congratulations, Craig, and finalists. Hope you're feeling better today, Janet. It's amazing how headaches and migraines can take you down.
Craig: This is not catch and release. Now go celebrate your win - it was well-deserved! I totally dug your Cation and Anion take. (Plus you've given us two serious contenders for great names, should cats adopt any of us.)
To all the other entrants: congrats and thanks for the giggles :-)
Janet - glad you're on the mend!
Con-cat-ulations Craig.
Congrats all! The entries were-you guessed it- puuurrrrfection
Craig congrats on the win! [Also, first rule of being a pro writer (by way of Jenny Crusie): The ONLY acceptable reaction to a compliment about your writing is to say, "Thank you." Do not ever, under any circumstances, cast doubt on or insult the taste/opinions of your readers.]
Congrats as well to all the others mentioned; so many of the entries made me smile.
Janet, I hope the massive headache will soon become a faint and distant memory, never to be revisited.
Sorry for chiming in late. Long and busy day.
