week in review will be late

sorry guyz.
The Week in Review didn't get finished yesterday.

I was painting.

Yes, the paint job that will not ever be finished (I fear) continues.

Yesterday, this was the color. It looks just like faint blood drops when you don't quite get all of a  spill off your hand!

I like that colour!

Good morning. :)

That's an interesting pink-ish color—I can see what you mean by the faint blood tone—and I imagine it was picked to cover the faded, spattered blood of chum. Of course, I might just being seeing things. It is morning, after all.

Anywho, Good Morning QOTKU.
Good Morning BJ.

Morning. Coffee anyone? Hope the next paint color works. Have a great Sunday, Reiders.

I do love the color. When someone shares a paint color, it's like saying "Hey! I just read this great book!" which then makes me want to go get said book. Now I want to test Razzle Dazzle on one of my own walls. Something tells me Blaine will likely want me to only paint the inside of a closet this color...since it doesn't quite go with the earth tones used in the rest of the house.

Boo. Hoo.

I don't know, Donna. Of course, colours look a bit different on the computer, and even when looked at dead on or from one side, but... I think it could go with the *right* earth tones.

Of course, I'm terrible with colours. What I think looks great, other people say 'ew'. And I never quite understood that purple-and-bluegreen combination that everyone was painting their houses a few years ago.

I do love Benjamin Moore but I'm a Sherwin-Williams kind of girl. They have the HGTV colors. I thought it was going to take 3 coats of beige to cover a screaming red my daughter painted. The paint-tech tinted their primer with the beige I needed and guess what boys and girls with paint brushes in your hands, 1 coat covered. Seriously I was blown away.

This was an unsolicited testimonial. No money changed hands regarding this commercial. Sherwin-Williams rocks.

BTW, love the color. Looks like melted raspberry sherbet mixed with cool whip.
Snack time.

The painting part is easy; its all the books you have to move around ;)

Great choice of color that "pops"! If you dont mind me asking, what are your accent colors? Being surrounded by new colors can be so invigorating, especially right before winter sets in - lifts those doldrums right away all winter long. Not to mention the fun in finding the right material for windows, pillows etc!

"Out, damn'd spot"

Macbeth, how nice.

Ha, Hank good one. Razzle Dazzle Macbeth?

Rasberry sherbert - mmmm. Put that in some 7-Up like I did for my daughter's baby shower and you got yourself a nice frothy pink punch. (added a little pineapple juice too...never mind the vodka later)

Agree BJ - least that's what I'm telling Blaine.

I love that color! And I loved that you planned it so that the fine citizens of NYC who happen to bump into you on the subway will see the faint drops of "blood" on your hands and your reputation of unequaled badassery will be even further cemented. THAT is forward thinking.

I'm doing a(nother) craft show this weekend, and one of the other vendors is selling books. Not handmade, but like direct sales. This is even better than the fudge lady I was next to last week! I am booking a book party, where we will meet at a restaurant, eat, drink ... things ... and buy books. And when my friends buy books, I get free books. How perfect is that? Life is good.

I love the finished result, but I personally HATE painting. This is most likely because I'm incompetent. A never-ending painting job sounds worse than Carkoon to me..............

This weekend was the last over-90-degree weekend of the season here, so we went to the beach yesterday. Had a great time. I'm soooooo ready for fall tho. Very tired of the heat.

Dena shut up. Tired of the heat??? How absurd.

Oh wait so am I. Here's to leaves, lots and lots of colorful leaves. Peak color here in CT. this weekend. In a few days we become neutral as in gray. Then white, then icy, white again the lots and lots of mud.

I'll say it again, Dena shut up. Tired of the heat??? How absurd.

Oh, that is a lovely color, Lady Macbeth!

I could go for a raspberry sherbet about now, with or without whipped cream. I wonder if my Ben & Jerry's cookie dough will do.

Also, Dena, I'd happily take heat allll the time. This 30 and 40 degree weather I've got now is not my cup of tea.

Our winters are usually 60s-mid70s. Nice. Our springs and falls are usually 70s-low80s. Very nice. Our summers are 85-110. NOT NICE.

We need rain here. Badly.

When my #1 son was enlisting in the Navy, he told me he was tired of living somewhere that didn't have "real seasons". We had the last laugh when his boot camp was in Chicago in JANUARY and his A-school was in Texas in JULY. LOL he got his real seasons!

My parents are from CT. They got married and moved HERE. 'nuf said =)

As a fellow Californian, I can attest to Dena's heat. We're chilling out a bit in NorCal, but it's worse in SoCal, especially inland. And yes, water! We so much need the water.

What a lovely paint color. Definitely worth a delay. Happy painting!

The Neverending Paint Story? A very good reason for not getting the WiR done.

I'm with the others above who prefer the end result to the process of getting there. Taping trim and trying to avoid textured ceilings requires too much precision for this sometimes-sloppy-with-details person. I much prefer painting our closets which can be all 1 color. Yes, I paint the inside of closets because I prefer the doors off.

Happy Sunday Reiders.

Wall or trim? So, Razzle Dazzle is what kept you up until midnight.

What a lovely warm pink.

I love painting but not walls.

I'm in Maryland and just visited my first Wagrams grocery store. Total culture shock. Barnes and Nobel was the first stop. Patrick Lee's book SIGNAL was on the shelf, right next to GO SET A WATCHMAN. Close by, but at eye level was Lee Goodman's INJUSTICE. Now I'm looking at the hole in my sock. I have to schedule my next trip to the US during a conference.

A note to Susan. I wasn't arguing with you about literary versus not literary. I was being a toad speaking my personal opinion, nothing was directed towards you, just outward.

Add me to the list of people tired of the oppressive heat and persistent drought. We are on serious water rationing in Paradise. They are starting to transport water to more distant communities, but no one has a proper storage system to hold a real reserve, so it never lasts long. I've helped the cause by inviting my in-laws to stay with us for three weeks next month - that is sure to buy us 21 days of torrential downpour. The authorities can send me a medal later.

I've always had great luck with Benjamin Moore paints. And someday I'll paint a house again, post-Paradise and final year on the boat. We are looking at a really-for-real-this-time return date to North America - hard to believe. Dena and 2Ns, I do miss the seasons, although I'd arrange the year differently If I Were In Charge. Three months of slow-budding European-style spring, four months of hot-but-not-frying-your-eyeballs-out-hot summer, four months of autumn exactly the way it is in October in Southern Ontario, and a month of winter to round it out. There. Perfect.

It is already Monday morning here, but happy Sunday to the rest of you across the dateline!

Janet, since you enjoy painting so much, why not come over and paint my walls? (Airfare not included, but room and board is.) I was just looking at my white walls yesterday and thinking they needed a new coat of white paint. Yes, I'm boring, but I like my apartment zen; glass and chrome and not much color except for the books in my library. If I had the time, I would cover my thousands of book in black and white and make them into some sort of design. Then again, who has that kind of time on their hands?

Anyway, I was going to mention Lady Macbeth, but Jennifer beat me to it. I still remember her dialogue from a high school play...crazy how we remember things like that.

I love the change of seasons. Autumn's my favorite and right now the leaves are turning. We took a walk in the park today and it was simply beautiful. Enjoy the rest of your Sunday everyone. We changed our clocks last night, it's dinner time.

Carolynnwith2Ns said...

Dena and Karen I wish you lots and lots of gentle rain, deep snows in the mountains, some sun, and more and more rain, enough, but not too much.
In CT our seasons are just long enough to make us want the next one.
Amy, may your water in paradise be fresh and abundant.

Huh. On my monitor that's the exact colour of my dining room. Unfortunately I have to repaint one wall and I can't match the old colour.

I would go with a somewhat warmer pink myself. But that's just me.

You're still painting? How many coats does this make? I'm now imagining the walls closing in, the floor space getting smaller and smaller, as the paint layers build and build. Make sure you retain one operable window for emergency egress and general defenestration.

Nice WIR. I always miss something and managed to miss more than usual this past week. Good stuff.

Truly great color, but just so you know, it takes more than six coats to cover the blood spots on the wall...I assume that's what you're covering up. I wrote a blog post about it. (evil laugh)

Great WIR! Better than a coffee start-up to my day. :-)

OK, with this paint swatch Ms. Reid has opened the door for me to shamelessly self-promote Ladder Memory, Stories from the Painting Trade, a self-published memoir about my career as a painting contractor.

I've sold a few copies, but mostly just having the tome out there has been a boon to my business.

"Razzle Dazzle" will work with white trim, and one of those metal-gridded white drop-ceilings often found in offices, but if your windows are bronze-tone anodyzed, not sure.

And yes, with interior painting in occupied dwellings, configuring
the furniture in the center of the rooms can be harder than the painting.
