Yeah...I felt like...I went through that..am still going through that.
The great thing I would add is that in writing you can look back at stuff you wrote before...and cringe.
But that's the point...it's always getting better, what else in life does that...keep writing and watch...it's pretty cool to see the advancement we all make incrementally.
That was beautiful. I think that's so important for everyone who is just starting to hear. And I think, even for a veteran, it's okay to acknowledge that there's still, sometimes, that gap -- between what you imagine and who comes out on the paper. Because, if we're (we're in the general sense) doing it right, we're still learning. And growing.

I recently started playing my French horn again, after many years away. It's maddening: I still have the ear to know I'm playing poorly, but my lips and lungs won't do what I want them to do. I know from experience the strength and skill will return with practice, so I keep playing despite the splatty notes.
It's nice to know daily writing will eventually yield the same results.
Right now I am trying something crazy and completely out of my comfort zone and know that the early results are going to be, um, early, but I have to keep at it.

Just about anyone can make noise come out of a French Horn. (I've even done it.) Just about anyone with a modicum of literacy can form written sentences.
The weird thing is that just about everyone realizes it takes many years of hard work and practice for the horn-noises to become music, but very few seem to grasp that it takes nearly as much effort for the sentences to become good stories.
My writing might be horn blats right now, but practice DOES make perfect. Or at least makes better.
