Write What You Hate

The world is full of pronouncements for writers. I've made more than a few myself.

Bill Cameron articulates one that is worthy of the Top Ten list here with Write What You Hate

I may be just that I am particularly slow today, but the link shows up as broken to me.

Great advice about living the experience for full blown research. I just finished County Line. From his prose I would say that Cameron keeps a moleskin in his pocket to note everything.

Good article, although it still seemed more of a case of write-what-you-don't-know that happened to be something he hated. However, learning to understand those you don't like, don't agree with, and so on is a great way to stretch your own mental horizons and make you a better person in addition to a better writer and character developer.

Argh, sorry about the link thing. They even have a way to test links pre-post and I *still* blew it.
