You might benefit from an intensive writers workshop. Here's a good one:
The 4th Annual Seascape "Escape to Write" Retreat
When: 9/9-9/11/2011

WHAT: Tune out distractions and devote a weekend to reinvigorating your creativity and revising your manuscript in the beautiful Connecticut river valley
FOR: Writers working on mystery, thriller, or suspense novels or short stories for YA or adult readers
WHEN: Beginning at about 5 PM, Friday, September 9; ending at 1 PM, Sunday September 11
WHERE: Guest House Retreat Center, Chester, CT
HOW: You submit 25 pages in advance and get a ton of feedback.
INFO: at Roberta Isleib's site
The weekend is limited to 18 writers and is already 2/3 full, so now is the time to make your plans.

some day when I have lots of money....
this sounds awesome.
Oh my God, that sounds amazing - and it's over a weekend, so I could actually do it, too! But alas, I'm a fantasy writer.
Reason number 962 why I wish I didn't live on the other side of the pond :(
This just sounds awesome, especially for little old me stuck here in Western Australia :P
Thanks so much Janet for mentioning us here--we're honored:)
Trisha, you should know that we did have a student year before last from Australia!
Any questions, feel free to shoot us an email. Roberta
Thanks to you, Ms. Reid, I have reserved my spot and am looking forward to three jam-packed days of critiques and feedback! But be forewarned, the Shark will be devouring my query soon thereafter!
Thanks for the shout-out about Seascape, Janet! Hallie, Roberta and I are really looking forward to this year's event because, even though it's a lot of work, it's just so much FUN! None of us is as funny as Janet, but we do have our share of yucks...and lots of honest feedback...and plenty of encouragement...and a few glasses of gin/wine. Hope to see some more Reid followers there.
Susan
