err.. part deux
Tawna Fenske and Bill Cameron.
Man oh man, I wish I'd have been there!
And this contest for a copy of DAY ONE requires a guess: Tawna Fenske mentions writing to an author of a series of books. I loved those books too. For the win: how many did I own and which was my favorite? (my mum and grandmama are disqualified from entering!)

39 books.
The Mystery of the Galloping Ghost.
A total guess, of course.
Could it be... Trixie Belden and the Red Trailer Mystery? I think that's the first one... And I'm going to guess the number... 8. Of course, I can't even remember how many I owned...
The Bartimaeus Trilogy by Jonathan Stroud. All three, of course. (But your favorite was #2.)
OMG You loved Trixie Belden too?!?!? I grew up with Trixie and Jim and Honey!!! I wish knew your favorite 'cause I really want to read Day One... Two of my favorites were The Mystery of the Ghostly Galleon and The Mystery of the Missing Heiress.
I'll guess anyway... The Secret of the Unseen Treasure??? And you had 14 of them???
I don't have a guess. I just wanted to say hi.
Hi.
Oh, and I'll probably buy BC's books, since everyone raves about 'em. I'm a sucker for rave reviews. And funny people. Who write about murder. (Funnily, I presume.)
I'm going to go with Secret of the Mansion and I peg you as a collector--I'll say 30.
Tawna's post was a wonderful throwback to my childhood. This is even better because I went back to look the TB catalog over again and it was like rediscovering old friends.
I'm going to guess Trixie Belden and the Happy Valley Mystery and I'm going to guess that out of the 39 possible books, that you had 17.
Aw, thanks for the link to my blog!
I'll refrain from guessing, since I already have a nice stash of Bill's books and I don't want to be greedy.
I never did hear back on that fan letter to the author so many moons ago. Not that I'm bitter. OK, I'm a little bitter.
Tawna
Trixie Belden -- The Secret of the Mansion and 24.
Guessing you had 36 of the books, and the Mystery of the Antique Doll is your favorite
I guessed you had all 39 and your favourite was The Mystery of the Queen's Necklace, but my comment seems to have disappeared.
I'm guessing 26 of them and The Gatehouse Mystery was your favorite.
You had all 39--people kept giving them to you after you'd "grown up." And your favorite was "The Mystery of the Blinking Eye," with "The Black jacket Mystery" a close second.
I'll guess you own 29, and your favorite should have been The Sasquatch Mystery because that sounds like an awesome book if ever there was one.
I liked Kay Tracey.
I will say Trixie Belden, "The Mystery of the Castaway Children." I will say you had 39.
OMG, Trixie Belden! My mom owned a lot of the really early ones, and I would read them each summer when I went to stay with my grandmother. Holy blast from the past!
I'm going to say you had 24 and your favorite was The Mystery of the Missing Heiress.
24 (only very lucky little girls had all 39), but your favorite had to be Mystery of The Blinking Eye, since it featured a trip to the 212 area code. My favorite was the first I ever read ... Mystery of The Emeralds, where a doubter of Trixie winds up eating her hat (or an edible facsimile, anyway.)
And do I get brownie points because Tawna and Bill are two of my favorite people? That bad ol' Harley May didn't let me win that signed copy of DAY ONE's ARC.
I'm going to guess you had all 39, but it took you years to get them all, and that your favorite was The Hudson River Mystery.
Is it me, or do the girls' names have a sort of junior-Bond-girl feel?
Trixie Belden
Honey Wheeler
Di Lynch
Tough, very tough. Trixie Belden, certainly. Of the 39 books, I'm going to guess you own(ed) 28. Your favorite? Ack! This would be much easier if I knew your age. Care to share? My initial thought was THE MYSTERIOUS CODE, but at the last minute decided to go with THE HUDSON RIVER MYSTERY (where, as I recall, Trixie sees a shark in the river).
Yay Tawna & Bill!
I adored Trixie Belden--I owned them all. I bet you did too. So that makes 39!
Favorite: The Mystery of the Headless Horseman.
I'll guess 6 books and your favorite was The Mystery in Arizona.
Yes, Trixie Belden is the series that Tawna mentions. Oddly enough, even though I devoured most all series books (Tom Swift, The Dana Girls, The Bobbsey Twins, The Hardy Boys, Nancy Drew and (my special favorite) The Marjorie Dean Series -- I never liked Trixie overmuch. She seemed very milquetoast to my adolescent eyes. Janet since you and I are of a similar age, I suspect you did not read past #16 in the series, and the Mystery on the Missippi gets my vote as your favorite.
I was a Nancy Drew girl myself (first book I ever read that I actually liked!) But, since you were a Trixie girl, I'm guessing your favorite was The Gatehouse Mystery and that you had 38 of the 39 in the series...and I'll go out on a limb and say that the one Belden book that 'got away' is what propelled you into becomming a literary agent so that no worthy book ever again escaped your clutches. How's that for a contest entry and therapy session?
I guess that your favourite was "Trixie Belden and the Mystery Off Glen Road" and that you owned all 39 books.
On an unrelated note, Jennifer Egan's A Visit from the Goon Squad made The Observer's Very Short List today, which is a great emailing list with wonderful and short suggestions of things to read, watch, etc... More great publicity for her.

AM
Of course you had all 39. And your favorite...let's see, could it be THE MYSTERY OF THE BLINKING EYE? Oh, wait. That's MY favorite. Still, I'll go with it. ;)
How funny. I loved Nancy Drew. I read all of them...how many? I can't remember. I wanted to be her...now I am with Facebook!
Mary
227 ... 3. ... 8,500,000 .. I'll admit here that I'm guessing ...
I'm thinking that you went to the library as a kid. (like me) AND, you would only own the ones you loved. So I'll guess you actually owned maybe 10. You would be so excited receiving one for a birthday or at Christmas. And I'll guess:
Trixie Belden and the Hudson River Mystery was your favorite because Trixie sees a shark tail in the Hudson river.
I loved Trixie Beldon! OMG this is awesome. And justifies my nomination of this blog for Versatile Blog Award. There's a lot of rules I don't mention in my blog, but the initial blog that I list that nominated me has them all. :D
Thanks for the great info and fun!
I'm with Alice re your favorite Trixi Belden, but I'm going to guess you owned... 15? I can't remember how many there are now. I gave them to my daughter and finding them in her room would be risking my life. lol
Ahhh, Trixie Belden. I own 37 of them (it took years and an ebay account), so that's my guess for you, too. I've had to replace my Red Trailer Mystery, so I'll say that's your favorite. And I wrote a fan letter to Kathryn Kenny, too - got back a catalog to order more books :( I felt DEEPLY BETRAYED when I found out she wasn't a real person (I was probably about 10).
I'm late to the game but since I'm on Twitter hiatus, I have time for all kinds of blogs, so here I am. Of course, that wasn't the point of the hiatus. And after reading that post, Tawna has totally weakened my resolve. I'm already trying to figure out how many minutes a day I could tweet without it taking over my life again!
I LOVE Trixie Belden. I had all of them myself, which I thought was 37, but maybe is 39. This is a funny story (to me, anyway). One Christmas, my brother got an expensive stereo. When I opened my present, there were the last 15 or so Trixie Beldens that I didn't have. I was so excited I started reading right away. My mum kept urging me to take them all out of the box, but I was busy reading. Finally, she said, "There's more than books in that box!" I dug a little and found a large amount gift certificate to the mall. She said, "Did you really think we'd buy your brother a stereo and only give you 15 books?" and I was all, "It seemed fair to me!" :-)
Anyway, my favourite one was the one about the hidden emeralds in the stone wall in the secret passage, so I'm sure it was yours too because we're like peas in a pod, you and me. You're the evil pea and I'm the nice one.
