How much fun did I have at PennWriters?

A. So much fun I am not holding a grudge about my best material not getting laughs?

B. So much fun I agreed to go to PITTSBURGH to next year's conference?

C. So much fun I brought La Octopussy to the costume party?

D. All of the above?
E. None of the above?

In all seriousness, I've not seen a more prepared, polished, and ready-to-pitch group of writers at any of the conference I've been to in years. They were friendly, polite, not pushy, and after a while, they even laughed at my jokes. (next year, groucho glasses!)

I think a membership in PennWriters, and attending the annual conference is probably one of the smartest things you can do if you're a writer in Pennsylvania.

Thank you, Penn Pal! I'm glad you and the Octopus had a good time. I'm glad you're coming to da 'burgh--I still owe you a drink!

And writers can join Pennwriters even if they live outside PA. I think we have one member who lives in Alaska.

Went to the same conference -- but sat on the other side of the table!
It was well organized by very pleasanr people (Aylene, I hope you read this) and attended by equally pleasant people. You don't have to be from Pennsylvania to get help from the (mostly) Pennsylvanians.

Hi,
I'm the Area Representative for all the Pennwriters who live outside Pennsylvania. Pennwriters are now in 19 states and Canada. No matter where you live there is a place for you in Pennwriters. Beginners to multipublished writers find a warm welcome and lots of support. I look forward to seeing you in all in Pittsburgh next year.
And Janet, I was one of the ones who did laugh at your jokes.

I'm a member and I live in NY. I met a man from Toronto at Pennwriters, and I think I overheard someone saying they were from Texas! It was a great weekend :)

I can't speak for the group, but your praise is very much appreciated. They put on a very good show, and some of the presenters gave me so much information I'm still processing it.

And with Jennifer Weiner and Jonathan Maberry showing up next year in Pittsburgh, I'll be making the trek as well.

We're also an active bunch who'll jump all over online praise -- and who'll point out that we'd love to have more friendly, serious, polished, professional writers.

Maybe I won't be the only one laughing at your jokes if they join us. When we get closer to 2011, I'll tell you what you can bribe me with to laugh louder.

I am so excited it's in Pittsburgh next year. That's great considering I can see downtown from my balcony.:o)

Janet,
Thank you for the grand compliments. We have a lot of fantastic and dedicated volunteers. Those folks make every Pennwriters Conference happen and are the ones who make our daily activities succeed.

I'm glad you enjoyed your weekend with us and I look forward to seeing you in 2011.
Sincerely,

Hey, there's nothing wrong with Pittsburgh!!! We cleaned up the pollution in the 70s. It's really nice now, we swear. Also there's cheap sushi and hot hockey players? >.>

Glad you'll be coming to Pittsburgh next year, Janet. And I hope Octopussy decides to grace us with her presence again, too. Wonderful picture of her, by the way. I wonder who took it. ;-)

Thanks for the nice comments about PennWriters, Janet.

I love when the conference is hosted in Pittsburgh because it is such a gorgeous city. Last year, I kidnapped some writers and took them around town to see the hot spots - the view from Mount Washington (which was voted the best nighttime view in the US a few years ago), the Cathedral of Learning on the University of Pittsburgh's Campus, etc.

Just driving through the Fort Pitt Tunnels at night and seeing the city appear in front of you where the three rivers meet is stunning. I'd be happy to give you, that darling Octopus, and anyone else who comes to the conference from out of town the grand tour!

Ellen, I don't think the Tour Manager will let me take his playoff ticket next year and give it to Janet, just so she can see the hot hockey players... But I can ask.

Super hot hockey players Ellen!!! lol.
