It IS an artform! There's a total match between Taylor Mali's poem and the visual presentation: they are both the perfect expression of the "most aggressively inarticulate generation" to date!
I love it - thanks for drawing our attention to it!
After I stopped laughing I got a little worried. We've really lost our ability to express ourselves with "conviction". I wouldn't like to count myself among the members of this inarticulate generation. Hope I'm not! Neeh!
Believe me, as a teacher, sometimes, when I am listening to one of my students give an opinion, it's like deciphering secret code. I would like to know when the word like was enshrined as a comma.
This is pretty cool. I love the "spoken word" and this guy did a wonderful job. He poses such a great question too, ya know? LOL! Thanks for sharing this.
Okay, giant dork that I am, I didn't even realize there was audio track attached to that. (I keep my speakers on mute).
When I saw them mention of it being performed/recorded, I went back and listened, and I have to say that if you haven't watched it on silent -- you should.
And no, that's not an insult to the speaker (who sounds strangely like Jeff Bridges). The words speak for themselves, and their voice is stronger without the audio.
Great link. Thanks for posting it. I've already poached that video and sent it to my friends as though I had discovered him and his ideas were mine to begin with.
If you ever decide to get out of agenting, and if you could think of some way to actually earn a living from this alternative, you could make a fortune as an impresario of YouTube videos. You've got impeccable taste for this stuff.

I watch that once a month, at least. It is my mantra. My fuel. My muse!
:)
I love it, ya know what I mean?
Oh, Yea..
Uh-Huh.
That's right! ;P
I'd never heard of this guy, but I like his style. Thanks for the link.
Loved it. Thanks.

That is my FAVORITE Taylor Mali poem. Here is a link to the original performance the audio is taken from:

Cool! It's sort of an organic word-cloud poem.
That is fabulous! Love it!
I got goosebumps. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you, thank you, thank you . . . that was great!
That was a great start to the day.
The art form is called Typography. Wildly unoriginal, I know, but there you have it. It's the art of letters and/or words.
Here's one the asssisstant might enjoy, if the link works...

I want to kiss that guy.
And I normally make a point of not kissing guys.

That was spectacular and hilarious at the same time!
I. LOVE. That.
Thank you!
Beautiful.
That was awesome, like, ya know?
Seriously, I think this typographical animation would make for a good book trailer.
Just excellent! Thank you for sharing.
Awesome! That's being used in my classroom tomorrow :)
A visual poem, maybe? But maybe not, as all poetry is visual when viewed by the mind. Whatever it is, I like it! Thanks for sharing the link.
