Best Opening Line in a Query Today

Also, I noticed that you had answered all of your queries as of February 1. Surely, you need more.

He/she started the query with "also"? My birthday was Feb 1st, but I promise it wasn't me.

Phew. Glad it wasn't me. Mine was far more professional:

Attn: Person Who Has Waited Their Entire Career for What I’m About to Submit to You,

and signed it:

I’m glad I could be a stepping stone in your career,

J.K. Meyer (It’s really Archibald Greenswallow, but I think that penname is way better since other authors with that name have success.)

I'll have to remember that one when I leave query hell and join the ranks of those who actually get to send them out!!

Hopefully the rest of the query was as good.

That is so awesome.

At least they read and retained something on your blog. And hopefully more than just that factoid. With all the advice you dole out here on the blog we faithful readers are sure to pen beautiful queries. (On the thirtieth draft, of course.)

Also, I've sent out queries to all your agent friends, hopefully you all will find my project so interesting that a bidding war will begin.

I'll go ahead and pack.

Lol, some folks never cease to amaze me.
