So it looks like you will be in South Carolina. You should post what NYC events you will attend on the sidebar, too! I can't wait to meet you at the Backspace Seminar in a few weeks there.
Sorry Pamela, it's in Myrtle Beach SC. I've just checked into the hotel. The room is bigger than my entire apartment. there is an IN ROOM laundry room, a thing I think is a kitchen, a formal dining table that seats EIGHT not to mention the bar and the tv area with a huge couch and two armchairs.
Quick, go out and buy a plant to establish your rights as a squatter and STAY. Your room sounds delicious, especially if there's someone else who cleans that kitchen. Hmm.... might need to start calculating mortgage payments for house I have to clean MYSELF versus swank hotel room that SOMEONE ELSE cleans.
Atlanta is a bit far, but I would've loved to attend. If nothing else, to shake hands with you, Ms. Reid ;)
Anybody with so much smooth badassness is automatically cool in my list.
Best of luck to those who will attend. and take heed to her advice. The Shark knows. And I'm pretty confident the shark can smell BS faster than a pint of blood.
Janet, I was hoping to see you in Alaska in August. Hopefully you'll try to make it back next year. I've recently graduated from the query phase but would still love to see you speak.
I'm sure you'll knock everyone's socks off tomorrow!
I *was* there, and it *was* like winning the lottery.
Only without the giant check.
So it was like winning the query lottery, then. Which was almost as awesome. As phenomenal as QueryShark is, it's no substitute for having Janet ask you, point blank: "So what's the problem?" or "Who's the bad guy?" in person when she hears yours out loud. It helped immensely.
Y'all don't hate me for it, but I was one of the FORTUNATE ONES who met Janet in Myrtle Beach. I have shaken the fin--err--hand--of THE SHARK. (No, I wil not be auctioning my hand on Ebay.)I learned a ton during Friday afternoon's session on social networking and the query/synopsis workshop on Sunday. She might not make it to Crime Bake, though. I think she's holed up in that hotel suite.

Why, why must I live on the other side of the Atlantic? And be going out of town for the weekend?
I'm in! Oh, and I'll slide a bottle of Tanq under the table for you. *nudge, nudge, wink, wink, say no more, say no more*
Sounds like a cool class!
I feel cheated by my geographic location! Guess I'll just have to brave the waters of the query shark one day.
Dratted boss is off to FL again. No time for a quick flight to NYC. Sigh! : )

Oooooooh!
Dammit - Can't you webcast it or something....I'm sure I can handle a 5 or 6 hour lag...=0)
And why don't UK literary agents blog more?
Gah! the injustice of it all...hehe

I am looking forward to meeting you at the Backspace Seminar as well!
Bridget, it looks like you are in my group. See you in a few weeks!

Is this an online class that going to be webcast to the needy and the faithful? If so, then YES I'll be there. If not, then sadly the answer is no.

Holy Macaroni, I may never leave!
My goodness! Writing from my dorm room, it sounds like you're in a stranger world than Asimov!

Man, agents have all the fun. *pouts*

Is this a writers conference? I wish it wasn't a 6-hour drive from Atlanta or I'd shoot right over there.
I'd love to go to the Backspace conference, but the investment of $1000 (flight, hotel, conf fees) would really break my budget. :(
Oh, I wish. Nothing but rain, grey cloud, and disgruntled kittehs around here.

when are you coming up here to canuckistan? ;)
That sounds like a luxurious room and I'm glad you're enjoying it.
So, you have a lovely room and a dining table that seats eight. Which seven historical figures are you going to invite for dinner?
Yes, I really wish I was there with my query letter. Your students will be delighted.
Wish I could be there! A class with the Shark...it's like winning the lottery.
Have a great time!

Thanks for doing it, Janet!
Janet, thanks for a great class!
Totally agree with M, it's a whole different (nerve-wracking yet delicious) experience to get feedback from Janet in person.
If folks are planning on attending a conference, stake out one with Janet, because she is worth every gritty penny.

The only thing that made me leave was they changed the damn lock on the door. Stupid me, I ran down stairs for more scotch!
Seriously, the only thing lovlier than the hotel were the people who attended the conference.
I could get used to this!
