I spent the afternoon watching amazing athletes perform feats of dazzling speed this afternoon. And I counted it as work....amazing what a trip to the ponies with colleagues can be called for the purposes of the expense account!
I'm back home now, and the weekend countdown has begun. 482 emails are in the starting gate. None of those are queries. None are emails for the query shark. None are spam. I've filed each of the emails in those categories in their separate spot.
If I don't have fewer than 10 by 4am Monday morning, I'm letting the senior godsend shave my head.
Yow!
Friday at midnight: 462
Saturday at 1:05am: 370
Saturday at 1:52am: 257
My eyes are rolling around independently of each other.
Time for a break!...about ten hours!
Saturday at 1:25pm: 189!!!!
Sunday at 1:29am 78!!!!!!!!
Holy moly, I might actually get there!
Sunday at 1:00 pm: 50!!!
You can see the pace is slowing as I get near the end but I can SEE the end!!
Monday morning 1:48am-0. Zero. Null. Zippo!
Hot diggety dawg!

Hoo boy. Get up and shake your legs out every now and then! I hope you have some generous soul around to massage the kinks out of your typing fingers when they need it. Good luck!
With those kind of stakes how are we supposed to root FOR you???
Word for the day:
RELAXATION: The state of being free from tension and worry.
Notice it doesn't read:
Plow through close to 500 e-mails in one weekend.
Just saying.;-)
Good luck, I really hope you can do it!
... And if you can't, please post pictures.
I'm thankful no queries shall be harmed in the aforementioned feat (in which you might accidentally lose your hair) is about to ensue. Godspeed Janet.
Best of luck, Ms. Reid... May your hair and your sanity still be intact Monday afternoon.
Ooh! Now your twitter pic makes sense :) Good luck!
If you make it, I'll send cookies :)
I used to work offline in batches of 100. Once I cleared 100, I'd check for new ones but I didn't get distracted by all the stuff coming in. It also slows down the chit-chat ones where you just reply to someone back and forth eleventy-teen times.
My record for one weekend was over 400 so it can be done.
Go, Janet, Go!
Geez...I'd be the type to hit "select all" and then "delete." But I suppose that's why I don't have a serious job.
Good luck to ya'.
Hopefully those aren't 462 fulls staring you in the eye...
I once worked with a woman who couldn't go on vacation without her voicemails backing up. When she got back, she'd spend a week responding to those voicemails. She'd write them all down and start calling the people back and by the time she got halfway through, she'd be backed up again with another 25 voicemails. It was endless.
Best of luck! Just think how much better you'll feel when the inbox is clear.
Sleep is good.
I echo Jessica's sentiments in hoping those aren't all fulls to get through. Best of luck with the weekend goals!

I agree with T. Anne... How do you know you'll have any hair left to shave by Monday? ;)
I do hope you'll get through it. And I'd help you if I was there :D
I'm just guessing, but Saratoga? Ahhhhhh.
If it was Saratoga, you lost all my sympathy for the Inbox.
Saratoga!
You can do it! Good luck (and don't die)!
Lemme know if you need any shaving tips, my scalp has been fully exposed for years.
It's that rarest of sea creatures - the bald shark.
(Or are you secretly hoping that your senior godsend will make the jump to the darkside and become an agent by Monday, thereby becoming unavailable for head shaving duty?"
"Saturday at 1:25pm: 189!!!!"
And down the stretch they come! Making a bold move in the middle, between horses, it's JRLA! She's pouring it on now! Look at at that agent go!
Oh my. Good luck to you.
Excuse me while I go hide in the corner until my hysterical laughter subsides. Sorry!
One thought: if you actually DO have to shave your head (naturally, I'm hoping not) and you've got enough hair on the floor afterwards: Locks of Love?
You can do it!!!
a wee dram of single malt every 3-4 hours does wonders ;)
You're just flying! I can't believe you're still able to see straight. Now I'm even more curious as to what sorts of emails these are that you've been able to speed through.
Almost there! You've got this! :D
Go, Janet! : )
I don't think we need to worry about the shaving. At the end of this, Janet will have pulled all her hair out anyway.
Yay, Janet! I knew you could do it!
Congratulations Janet! :) That was very impressive. You want to shave your head anyway? Sounds fun!
Well done! So are you now all caught up with queries and fulls?
Wahoo! I knew you'd do it!
Congrats!
