As it turned out, Sean's pants like to make calls to Sean's agent.
Fortunately, they also receive calls because I needed to relay some darn good news last week.
Here's what it was:
Publisher's Marketplace 4/20/2009:
FICTION: DEBUT
Sean Ferrell's NUMB, literary action/adventure novel about a man who wanders into a circus, and discovers he feels no pain and has no memory of how he got that way; and is then discovered by fame, fortune, and a New York talent agent, to Gabe Robinson at Harper, in a nice deal, for publication in Fall 2010, by Janet Reid at FinePrint Literary Management (world).

Saw that in Lunch Weekly this morning. Congrats to all of you, and particularly Harper!
Mr. Ferrell's pants must be ringing like crazy. He should YouTube that or something.
Congrats, Sean! (And Janet!)
Just keep answering those pants, and you'll be fine. :-)
Literary fiction? Dear God Woman! Here I thought it was supposed to be all about talentless hacks and their money.
Huge congrats to Sean. This sounds great and I'm looking forward to reading it.
Congratulations, Sean!
Hooray!
The summary is short yet makes me very hungry to read that book. One heck of a hook!
Wow, congratulations Sean! I'm very pleased for you!
Awesome! Congratulations Janet and Sean! :)
Sean's pants are a Docker's advert waiting to be made. Congrats to all involved!
Sounds like a great read.
One of the few I remembered from my Publisher's Weekly email. Congrats to you, Sean, and his pants. :)
I forgot and had my pants on vibrate. Color me embarrassed.
Thank you, Janet.
And, thank you to all your commenters for their kind words! I greatly appreciate their congratulations.

Dear Janet,
Little Amelia Buttercup is lying on my lap gazing adoringly up at me.
She likes the story about Sean Ferrell's phone, and his blog link too.
Congratulations on NUMB to both of you!
She is confident that when I get the rest of my novel done you and I will be exchanging happy cell phone calls.
I love Amelia Buttercup.
:-)

Congrats to you, Sean, and his pants.
Hey Janet, what happened to "the known world" that was mentioned in Lunch Weekly deluxe? I thought it was a real Janetism and started off my morning with a chuckle. A big congrats to you and Sean.
Congratulations Sean and Janet! I'm looking forward to reading it!
Congratulations Sean and Janet!
That sounds like a fabulous book. I have a weakness for books involving the circus. ;) It'll definately hit my TBR pile in 2010!
I'm coming late to the party, but congratulations, Sean (and Janet)!!
Congratulations, Sean and Janet! Sounds like something I'd love. The book, not the Brotherhood of the Communicating Pants, that is.
Congratulations, Sean and Janet!
YAY Sean and Janet!! Wahoo!
