Bonus content!
All the best in your new literary home! I'll bet you're already looking at paint colors for your new office.
I know it's late for the pet photos, that's all right I have none to speak of. Hubby has hinted over and over about getting a dog. I told him with our lifestyle (traveling, apartment living in a big city, etc.) that was the last thing we needed, so I got him a cactus instead. Not a big one as you can see in the photo. Lol.

It seems a little prickly for cuddling, but the cactus is obviously thriving amid in the atmosphere from all those lovely books. Hope hubby is enjoying his pet.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the cactus OPs hubby. Try not to kill it.
ReplyDeleteI, unfortunately, have killed my gift-cactus.
My Queen, do you have a need for any orchids? We again have too many.
ReplyDelete*snort* I've been SO hoping someone would send a pic like this. Love it.
ReplyDeleteHow do you pet a cactus?
ReplyDeleteVery, VERY carefully.
Hey, shush, I hear you groaning out there.
Ho ho ho, C2NNs!
ReplyDeleteI have had cats that are somewhat cactus like. At least a cactus will not leave tiny corpses on your doormat.
I'm not a good cactus (cactii?) momma either. I overwater 'em. I'm trying really hard to keep my 4th one alive.
ReplyDeleteWhen I moved to southern California my sister gave me one piece of advice:
ReplyDeleteNo matter how soft and fuzzy it looks, don't pet the cactus.
Cacti are neat!
ReplyDeleteThe library has a Christmas Cactus that blooms like, three times a year. We're not rally sure why and I can't be bothered to look it up. But my dad had some other manner of cactus that one year spontaneously bloomed, after having never done so before.
I got a tiny 2-inch cactus for my 13th b-day and it lived till I went to college.
ReplyDeleteCheryl - Every time I see a cactus, I have the overwhelming desire to poke it back. I don't know why. Even from this pic, my brain is thinking, hmm. I bet those spokes wouldn't hurt too bad. Why not...?
"My Point ... And I Do Have One"
ReplyDeleteFor a tougher challenge, combine a caption with a book title!
Haha, John Davis Frain - very sharp! (Sorry)
ReplyDeleteWhen my daughters shared a ground floor bedroom my husband planted dozens of cactus under their window. It took me a while to realise it wasn't an aesthetic decision. Now the girls are upstairs and he's strung bells on the balustrade.
Prickly Pear are considered a vermin plant in Western Australia. Granted, you'll come across them occasionally.
ReplyDeleteI have some country friends whose neighbour declared himself a sovereign nation. (Sometimes it's cool; this time, it wasn't.) One of the things he did was plant cacti along his national border.
Being from Utah originally, I explained to my foreign-born daughters about prickly pear cactus, how its fruit was edible, etc, etc. Not just one but both daughters thought it looked soft and fuzzy enough to pet.
Poor dears. We were two hours from home and not a lick of tape or tweezers to be found.
My Christmas cactus (RIP) bloomed once a year and the red blooms lasted maybe a month - beautiful flowers.
ReplyDeleteAt first I thought this was a picture of a cactus Janet had received as a move-in gift, which struck me as appropriate.
ReplyDeleteClearly I should not read posts before my morning tea.
I missed this yesterday! But I'm a terrible plant owner. I told someone I knew that I killed plants, all kinds of plants. They said that overwatering is a common mistake. I had to tell them that the problem was not *over* watering. Yes, I've killed cacti, mother-in-law tongue, even a spider plant, by not watering enough.
ReplyDeleteI bet I could kill a silk plant by not watering enough. That's how good of a plant-killer I am!
Love it! But I think you need a Pet Rock to go with this little cactus.
ReplyDeleteBJ - I've had plastic flowers die on me.
ReplyDeleteA cactus is the only plant I managed to kill.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Janet, hubby was surprised to see his cactus on your blog.
ReplyDeleteClaire: Next time he starts hinting about a pet, I'll get that Pet Rock to go with his cactus.
Megan, Cynthia, BJ, & Joseph: The cactus is thriving quite well simply because I'm not allowed to water it or any other plant for that matter. Yes, I kill them all too...well, not as bad as Joseph who can kill a plastic flower!
Hi Lynn: I sympathize. I kill all plants, too!
