Happy New Year, Janet. I am grateful I found this blog. There's a wonderful sense of community created here. May you discover more quirky and edgy novels for us to read in 2015.
For those of you who started the year off with a bang, may your dreams come true in October with either a minimal weight gain and short labor, or just another color infused autumn. For those who watched the ball fall, God bless your stamina. For those who went to bed early, (me), welcome to the New Year. To think that we are fifteen years into the new century just about flips my follicles. There’s a lot of crap going out there so let’s hope ‘15 null and voids the nasty.
Janet, a very happy New Year to you.
This place you have created, this community, this font of knowledge is, for many of us, the difference between knowing and not knowing and the grand sifter of that which is confusing. Sometimes you are the lifeline we cling to when fishermen cast their lines. That, for the most part, you are in this net with us, and not circling with them, makes all the difference. Thank you Janet, thank you all and a very Happy 2015.
Happy new year, Janet and all, from me and Penelope and Gossamer the Editor Cat. We rang in the new year on the phone with my brother, three time zones away, talking about movies we liked and didn't from this year (The Grand Budapest Hotel - FTW). It was lovely, and he had to stop me to say Happy New Year at midnight.
Now dipping into SyFy's Twilight Zone marathon, loving the production design on circa-1960 spacemen and smiling warmly/ironically at the trip back in time.
I may take a page from Janet's book and buy some PAINT later on ... :)
Janet: May your 2015 inbox be filled with magic. May this year be the most difficult year for turning away mss (because they're ALL so awesome). And may you continue to be blessed both professionally and personally, as you have blessed so many (including me). Happy New Year!
And to all my fellow regular commenters/competition-participants (Lisa, Donna, Diane, Hank, Michael, Carloynn, Kitty... and so many others): A very happy, prosperous, and successful New Year to you all. :)
Reading your kind and generous comments is a lovely way to start the new year. You have collectively created the one place exception to the social media rule "don't read the comments."
And now of course, Colin has reminded me of how fun those writing contests are!
Janet, we're creating a community beyond your blog, too - we're becoming parts of each other's here and there, too. But I've definitely said that about this forum!
Ya know, I always thought this was a special place and now I know I was right. When one of Janet's authors has a movie screening, lets all show up and crash the party. I'll be the broad with the gray hair arguing that row five, seat seven-center is really mine. Donna you better shave your legs or wear a long dress, DLM, leave the cat at home, Colin leave the kids home, John, Hank and all the rest, meet me in the lobby for an extra large with butter. Janet says she's buying.
Now you're talking, Janet!! Perhaps...Angie can paint the invitations, Hank can bring some of his own wine, "my chef" will make the amuse-bouches, and notice I still haven't decided what I'll bring to the table, but I'll think of something!
Seriously, Janet, I want to thank you for giving us so much of your time and sharing your knowledge and expertise. I haven't been around as long as many of your regulars, but I'm grateful I found your two blogs. What I've learned here each day has helped me tremendously. And if laughter is the best medicine, then I've stayed healthy more often than not just by reading the comments posted here.
Happy New Year to you, Janet, and to all your faithful readers!
Happy New Years to the dearest community that I am proud to be part of,notwithstanding Groucho Marx's quote about being part of a club that would want him as a member.
I never get tired of saying "To the Hostess with the mostess, thank you again for the work and effort you put into making your audience better." (Although I might wager some may be tired of reading it?)
I'm so happy to have met you all. And yes the French connection will meet in Paris at your say so. Lynnrodz, Angie, et Moi. (Are there others?)
Amy set sail and pick up the Aussie contingent.
Cheers, Carolynn, Donna, Colin, John, DLM, Amy, Lisa, Lynn, Angie, and all the great regulars. It really is amazing to know the one site where the comments are non-toxic...well except one of my occasional hmmmm! Cheers!
Hee. OSUM. 'cept the part where I leave Gossamer at home, because he will KILL me if I don't let him come love on Janet. He's all about some QOTKU.
And we can plan a reunion down the road, too, when The Ax and the Vase is agented ... then sold ... then published ... internationally ... then snapped up for a film deal ... and the premiere is in Paris, because it was Clovis I who made that the capital in the first place.
Keep your comments succinct. Any comment that runs longer than 100 words is generally too long.
If you're commenting more than three times a day, it's too much.
Civility is enforced. Spelling/grammar mistakes may be pointed out ONLY in the blog post itself, not in any of the ensuing commenter's contributions.
If your comment doesn't show up, it's most likely that Blogger ate it. Try posting again using a GoogleID. (comment moderation is on only for older posts)

ReplyDeleteHappy New Year, Ms. Janet and all!
ReplyDeleteI love what Neil Gaiman says, especially this part, "and somewhere in the next year, I hope you surprise yourself."
Like having a personal discovery about oneself - a positive one preferably. Some here will know what I mean by that. :)
Happy New Year. :)

Chill bumps reading Ms. Janet's comment. But, everyone here has made me feel so warm, fuzzy and a part of it all.
ReplyDeleteOr maybe I just need to shave my legs.
TMI?
(And right back at you, Colin.)
Thank you. That was so perfect I sent it to my kids.
ReplyDeleteAnd I ALWAYS read the comments here.
Colin said it better than I could ever.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your generous blog. To think that an agent of worldwide bestsellers allows us to participate. It's thrilling and addictive.
I too, always read all the comments.
Since when do sharks need to shave?
HNY to you too, Colin.
ReplyDeleteDonna - hee! :)

We're announcing a film deal soonish that just might make that possible. Wouldn't that be a total hoot??
ReplyDeleteWe'd have to have a showing in France to collect our European readers of course. I suggest Paris.
Who's in?
I'm in, and I'll even shave my legs...:-) A film deal is hot!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year Janet and wonderful commenters.
May 2015 be about sweet dreams coming true for all of us. See you in Paris. ;-)
Janet: That would be a real hoot. I'd love to be in--keep us posted! But I'm not shaving my legs. I love y'all, but I have my limits. ;)

Travel to Paris? Say no more. I'm in. Legs shaved.
ReplyDeleteSo, Colin, you'll be the hairy legged one?
Must go buy new razor. Colin, I'm glad you're not going all Arnold on us. Phew!
ReplyDeleteI'm in, slick legs and all. Carolynn, something tells me you'd stand in the aisle if this opportunity came up!
I can't wait to hear about this film deal. What a great way to begin the New Year!

Because ME ME ME ME ME ME ME ME.
/shutting up now/
Hairy legs is still the trend in France, isn't it? And while we're "there" - hairy armpits, too? Doh!
ReplyDeleteHAPPY NEW YEAR, ALL!!
