If at first you don't suceed, fry fry a hen.

I'm not sure how we got on the subject of food photography today at work but we did. I was flinging my hands in the air and pontificating based on years of doing food segments on TV how hard it was to photograph food in situ and not have it look like a big ol blob o'yuck.

My colleague Amy Tipton mentioned she had a lovely photograph of a dinner one of her friends had taken. I thought 'yea right'. Then she sent me this:

    That is awesome! I am likewise in consistent awe of those pretty dinner pictures.

    I have a friend with an amazing food blog who has graciously agreed to guest blog for me later. My protagonist cooks to self-soothe through all the crazy stress I put her through, and my friend will guest blog appropriate recipes with those pictures that defy reality.

    That will rock. *nods*

    First they rang my neck, then laughed as I ran around headless, then they took my feathers and sold 'em to some fly tyer fisherman type, then they squoosed me into a pot... I'VE HAD ENOUGH! Y'all come any closer and I'll use this knife.

    Gravy? Where's the gravy? Gotta have gravy! Dammit, gravey's a beverage here, a staple. It's Motherhood, apple pie and gravy.

    I know a food stylist with Rodale Press and she works very hard to get the food photos to look good. From what I hear it's not easy.
