This is a fun little game to guess where accents are from. I only got three right! How well did you do? (click on the Test Your Skills, NOT how to play)
5 with none of the cities right. Some of the people speaking English as a second language had duel accents I thought, one form hjome and one form whomever they learned English from.
I did miss one of the Americans because I didn't think it would repeat and decided it was Canadian.... oh well!
I got 8 right, but it still told me I stunk! LOL I found it hard because they were reading. I think it would have been easier if they had just been conversing.
I got 31 but I hit the wrong one on one or I would've had 34! The cities were hard because I could only listen for one thing at at time. If I hear English people talking I can usually tell if they're from north or south or the middle most of the time, but I was just trying to figure out the country and forgot to listen to the region! Still I got a few of the cities right. You have such great ideas for wasting time, Janet!
Got eight for 24 points. Knew the Canadian was one of my countrymen, but couldn't place him specifically...would have been easier if he were a maritimer like me, seems to be the only accent I can hear.
29 for me. I'm amazed, really, as I've always had trouble telling British, Australian, and South African apart. I also was sure the Scottish guy was Irish.
5 right. I had better avoid training any flower girls to speak proper. I agree the guy from Glasgow has spent time in Ireland. I thought the Kiwi accent was very soft too.

That was hard! I got five.
ReplyDeleteI got 6 right, including one of the bonus cities. 20 pts. I actually missed one of the Americans.
ReplyDeleteYeah, baby. I got 11, plus several bonus points for cities. 41 points.
ReplyDeleteShould I admit I thought of pursuing studying linguistics, specifically accents, for a living?
I only got eight.
ReplyDeleteI'm generally pretty good pinpointing accents, esp. domestic ones.
But allow me to be the first whiner: WOW those were short clips. I needed more time and more examples to pour over my ear.
I don't remember the count but I got 32 pts. That was fun!
ReplyDeleteYeow. Thanks for the daily mortification... I got four!
ReplyDeleteLOL What a thing.
ReplyDelete21 points. But with the extras. I got all the UK ones right, including city! W00T!
37 points got 9 right + 5 cities

I got 39 points...but the guy from Glasgow was Irish. He lies. :-) That was fun!
ReplyDeleteNo way, the Glaswegian was a true Weegie!
ReplyDelete26 points, that was hard though!
ReplyDeleteNot every Glaswegian is incomprehensible. However, I suspect he'd moved around a bit, because his accent was very soft.

ReplyDeleteI got 9 right, with 31 points. I actually missed the Canadian. Oops.
