Douglass

Douglass!

Longtime reader, former frequent commenter, current lurker as I attempt to use less precious writing hours online.

This is Douglass, also known as "oh my god no don't eat that." We adopted him from a rescue four and a half years ago. His adoption listing described him as the offspring of a beagle mom and a handsome stranger father. We think he's part pointer. He makes the best writing company and we spend a lot of time side by side on this couch.

'oh my god no don't eat that' just sent my coffee spraying and the cat flying off the couch!. Too funny. But what a great smile on that boy.

"oh my god don't eat that," and I thought our mini-wiener was the only dog with that name. Love it !

Wonderful little soul, I love mixed dogs. We currently have Beau our lil Frenchie, and Django a mix of mostly Golden Retriever with a hint of Meth Lab.

Hey everybody! That's my sweet boy Douglass. He is also part billy goat, we suspect, based on his eating habits.

*waves excitedly back* Hi Lucie! Looks like you've got a very good boy there even with his alter ego of "oh my god no don't eat that" Thank you for sharing!

Hey there, Lucie!
Any writing companion who enjoys snacking is a winner. Plus, Douglass is very, very cute. Love that smile!

Lucie, I can see the personality shining out of Douglas. Or maybe that's just the flashlight he swallowed. Anyway, Douglass is a lovely boy.

Douglass is a cutie!! I love his little white nose stripe.

I've tried and tried to train "leave it" with Ulrike and it hasn't yet stuck as rock-hard as Elka's leave it did. She's pretty good but not entirely reliable. So "what do you have???" is a sometimes phrase in the house!

Jennifer Murphy's very good at 'leave it'. He proved that today when he dropped the half eaten Cecropia sized moth and walked away... *shudders*

Lucie, Douglass is a cutie! You can almost see his energy and mischief. Good to hear from you again, although I hope your absence has resulted in many wonderful new words of fiction. I need to go that same route soon, methinks. *ponders lack of productivity*

We might as well have named our last black lab, "Quincy, NO!" I called him Quincy the Wonder Dog, not because he was wonderful (although he was) but because it was a constant source of wonder that he survived as long as he did. I read an article once about poisonous outdoor plants and realized he'd eaten more than half of them. With no apparent ill effects. Sigh.

Hank, you crack me up.

Lucie! Douglass is so handsome! What a good boy. I want to snoogle his uvverly floppy ears!

If I rename my son "Don't-eat-that" will everyone promise not to tell social services? He seems to be taking the devouring of good literature literally at the moment. I don't even know how he gets those books in his mouth.
