The Duchess of Yowl takes exception

To the editor:

I write to note that you have featured a horse on page D1 of Friday's paper.
There are no cats in the entire D section.
This is clearly some sort of terrible oversight since everyone knows pictures of cats increase readership.

I have enclosed several of my own headshots for your use should you be faced with this situation again.

My agent will be in touch about the very modest licensing fee.

Yours faithfully,

Duchess of Yowl (and all she surveys)

The little Omega at the end? Perfectly punctuated! I can't see the editor denying her anything after that.

A horse and not a cat? How gauche!

Happy Thanksgiving to all Canadian Reiders out there! Tomorrow is technically Thanksgiving, but most people I know celebrate on the Sunday. (Gives them a day to get over the effects of the turkey and cooking it.) We'll be turkeying today at my sister's.

To all others: Happy weekend!

Tragedy indeed. A lack of cats. Can't have that. And no picture of the Duchess here? I guess that modest licensing fee was not so modest?

Nobody reads birdcage liners anymore. On line is where it's at. Imagine your kitty videos going viral worldwide. The fame, the adoration, the worship from afar. Think about it. Do you really want Tweety pooping on your pic?

Interesting symbol. Was the Duchess formerly known as Princess?

Here is something someone might like: an interview with author Dan Brown recorded locally a few days ago. Dan Brown is a Dawkins and Darwion enthusiast who creates literary represenations of himself to spout atheism in books such as THE DA VINCI CODE. One of his arguments is in the interview: if most people today do not worship Poseidon, it is necessary for all of us to become atheists. All his argument are on about that level. As a lifetime student of secular philosophy I find that downright laughable, but most people are profoundly moved by it. A philosopher he is not, but he is a successful writer and the interview is worrth a listen.

If most people do not believe in a flat earth today, there is no earth?

I have never read a Dan Brown book, never seen any of the made-into-movie adaptations, have absolutely no desire to. Sometimes, even if an author is a brilliant writer, I personally can't get past the underlying Mary Sueisms...

Leilani (love your name!) If the earth was flat, DOY would have pushed everything off it by now :)

nightsmusic: haha, so true wrt the DoY. And I agree about Leilani's name - so beautiful!

Bit if she pushed everything off, who would pet her, admire her and bring her food?

And thank you. :)

(I notice that I am equating people with things, but maybe that's not too far off from a cat's point of view.)

I'm surprised Her Grace hasn't troubled herself over the fact that another cat has a permanent head-shot on this blog. Purrhaps she's lost her touch.

Hopefully I'm just being paranoid, but the Duchess doesn't have a shock of orange hair atop her head, does she?
