Will "writing a book" be on your list of New Year resolutions?

Here's a blog post with some helpful ideas to get you started.

Finishing my book is at the top of my list.

One of my top goals for the year is finishing my book, and getting started on a second while I pursue publication.

It better be - I just got a contract from a (very) small press for a 35,000 word non-fiction project due May 15. Pretty excited, looking forward.

I finished a novel manuscript! My goal is to get it published in 2012. Oh wait..should I write "fiction novel"? Ha ha.

Yes, among "finally finish editing the one I already wrote," and "finish the one I began to write and almost lost faith in."

New Year's resolution? That's for NEXT year. I'm gonna finish this sucker this year, that's my resolution! (Just finished extended revisions; time now for 6 or 8 polishing reveiws, or reviews, or revuse. Dang typos.)

Considering that I've written a few by now and it's kind of a normal thing to be at some stage of the process, it wouldn't be much of a resolution. But I have been in a bit of a slump lately, so I will try not to let that continue. (Breaking it before the end of the year, though...I've already started.)

I'll probably begin to seek publication next year since I'll finish up grad school in May, so that can be my resolution.

I have a master plan, writing four books per year, reality gave me a bitch slap across the face so to speak and I decided I am going to pace myself and write one awesome book, but (I still will have four books though but won't do that again) My first novel is being edited by a wonderful editor who is tough which I like, I used to be obsessive over agents/publishers the goal now like I said is to write good books because when I am ready to query hopefully the stars will align and my agent will be waiting with open arms and a red pen..although I'll negotiate in my contract for he/she to use a purple pen lol HAPPY HOLIDAYS..soon Janet aka the most amazing agent that gives aspiring writers like me so much.

Writing a book isn't. I've managed to accomplish that goal 7 of the last 10 years. Selling another book, and finding that right agent, definitely are on the list. As well as promoting the last book.

Yes, but more importantly, I want to write a Query letter that works.

No. I don't keep New Year's resolutions. So...I'll play it by ear. We'll see what happens...or doesn't.

For me it's writing a book in a totally different genre. I'm actually commenting now so I stick to it!!
