"God is not a careless mechanic"

Who is Alanis Morissette quoting on Twitter you might ask?

Well, that would be Ina May Gaskin, author of Ina May's Guide to Childbirth (which has been called "the most informative and important book about childbirth ever written.") and Ina May's Guide to Breastfeeding. Some the things she's said over the years really resonated with readers.

We're very proud to count her as a FinePrint client, represented by the inimitable Stephany Evans. You don't hear much about Stephany in Cyberia. She's busy discovering great projects and nurturing long-term careers.

You're serious? My wife, a doula, has met Ina May several times, even swung by the Farm Community in TN to say hello. She's a brilliant, yet wonderfully down to earth lady.

So naturally, because of this connection, I infer that you will invite me over to FPL's office for sushi, scotch, and a chat about midwives and my novel-in-progress. Am I wrong?

Weird mixed feelings about that lady. Love many of her philosophical musings (minus the god ones which are mostly silly), wish she'd stop being so disingenuous about science. I also experience knee jerk reactions to any woman who says I should love my uterus. I get the point, but I guarantee if she had mine she wouldn't love it either. Definitely an interesting writer.

So nice to see something positive about Ina May that doesn't come from an alternative / hippie kind of place.

Sharks aren't hippies, right?
