Nice blog! I tell people to treasure the "good rejections." When you get them, they give you so much feedback--and often, encouragement--that it makes the slog to that "awesome acceptance" a little easier.
Yes... but. I don't mean any disrespect to Courtney Summers, who is obviously made of sparkly awesome.
Is it possible, though, that she could have revised her first novel, gotten an acceptance, and been equally happy?
I got into my second choice college, not my first. I had a great experience in college, truly the best, and sometimes I think I dodged a bullet and I'm happy that I didn't attend college #1. However, I have to remind myself that if I'd attended my first choice college, I would have had different, but probably equally good, experiences.
Since you're ~*happy*~ now, it's tempting to think that everything worked out for the best because this is the only thing you know, and bless those rotten rejections. But other paths could have been perfect too.
I'm just sayin'.

Margaret: anything is ~*possible*~, you're right. In this particular case, I can only work with what I know. And what I know is, rejections positively impacted my adventures in writing (although I can't say that always made me happy at the time). Whether I might've been as happy, happier or completely unhappy if it had gone another way is something I'll never know. What if, what if... :)
