Gorgeous cat! We are enjoying the sunshine and cool weather after Hurricane Matthew. The garden looks awful and we must have picked up a zillion branches in the yard but we are fortunate and we are grateful. Prayers go out to all who were/are/may be in his drunken path.
It's a crisp sunny day in central WI. I hope everyone who was in the hurricane's path is safe.
Spent a productive day yesterday working away on the book proposal. Today I have a book review to finish up and some of the perpetual grading to tackle.
That's my 'little' kitty! He just missed being included in the pet photo month. Obviously he is helping me on my Mac. Did you know there was a computer program that saved your work and warned you that, "...apparently a cat has walked across your keyboard... It came in handy when they were kittens. I do not know the name of the program or if still exists. He thanks you for all your compliments :)
Our first cat was a gorgeous polydactyl, but an 18-pound ginger and white domestic short hair. We adopted him from a humane society and named him Renfield because of his proclivity for catching and eating flies.
Janet: I think we can just accept that Sunday will be a cute pet picture, or something reflective, or a WiR--whatever you have the time and inclination for. Surprise us! :)
It's a lovely fall day here. Spending the afternoon with family (and of course, writing). Glad to hear some of the Reiders at least are doing OK after Matthew.
Cedar is gorgeous! Those beautiful eyes in that floofy face! Kate, tell his sister she's missing out. (But I do understand a pet that doesn't like cameras.)
Thanksgiving supper today at my sister's. Usually we have it at my mum's, but it will be our first Thanksgiving without Dad, so we thought a bit of a change might help Mum a bit.
A few weeks ago was the 6 month anniversary of Dad's passing. We went to visit Dad at the cemetery, then watched the football game. Our football team has NOT been doing well this year. At the cemetery, my sister told my Dad he'd better be praying for the Riders. And lo - and behold, even - they won. They've been winning ever since.
We have a lot to be thankful for, not the least of which is the team's turnaround. We can be thankful that we don't hurricanes here in Saskatchewan. (Blizzards, tornadoes, but no hurricanes. And the tornadoes rarely come near towns or cities.) And we can be thankful we had my father for as long as we did. I'm also so, so, so grateful that everything's working out so I can go to Surrey this year.
Raining like the dickens here in the northeast. Thank God because we're seriously low on hydration-eliminator.
Well, does everybody have their popcorn ready for tonight's big event? I'm not consuming, I'm pitching my salted and heavily buttered at the screen until the they stick or the dog gets sick.
Kate, what a beautiful fellow. Is his sister just as gorgeous?
Cynthia, glad you're okay, even if you have to play pick-up stix. Hope everyone is.
Looking forward to the contest results. I'm always amazed at how many different themes can come form five words or a phrase. I'd never be able to pick a winner.
Carolynnwith2Ns - I'm not buying either. I'll spend the evening self-tattooing literary quotes on all six of my limbs (and tongue). Then I'll finally investigate that faint sound, like the beating of a human heart, emanating from beneath my floorboards. :-)
Wow... Cedar is exceptional! I've had some lovely cats in the past, both in appearance and personality. I'm currently saddled with Sunny (aka The Devil's Spawn) who whips out his razor blades if we come anywhere within swiping range.
2Ns... Can't even force myself to watch the debate. It's all too cringe-worthy and I wouldn't be able to sleep.
Cedar is lovely! I do miss having a cat. They don't even come up to me on the street anymore, the way they used to, undoubtedly due to my giant dog. My first cat, Ripple, was an indeterminate stripey mix who topped out at about 16 pounds. My subsequent cats were much smaller.
I prefer to take in my politics filtered by Twitter. Everybody is very creative, nowadays!
I'd intended to have a lazy Sunday, but really, so many of my days are lazy, so I've actually taken steps to reclaim my office from my belongings. Maybe I'll actually do NaNoWriMo this year on my desktop computer! (esp. as my laptop is beginning to do alarming things like decline to open files and get stuck with the touchpad clicked. Besides, y'know, sounding like a jet engine).
Beautiful cat, Kate. He looks comfortable and secure in his surroundings.
My Brigada as a kitten walked over or lay on the keyboard. Once I was on a blog and she somehow sent the same post eight times to the blog. The other commenters had a field day replying to it.
A few months ago, on her own, she learned to straddle the keyboard. I'm so proud of her (for that anyway)
(P.S. It took me four tries at identifying squares with street signs before I proved I wasn't a robot)
"Oh my, what great green eyes you have, Cedar." "The better to enthrall you, my dear."
And she's reading a Maurice Sendak e-book. The children's baby sitter, perhaps? Caught in the act.
It's gorgeous here too. Cool but the sun's out. And I am wiped out after preaching (my co-pastor's brother just died), leading the congregational meeting (our moderator is at her hometown hospital with her ill grandma) and then finding out a church member took a newcomer to task in the kitchen. Why do kitchens, including the church's, bring out so much angst?
In the end, it's a good thing to be too busy to create a WIR. Even if a little bit of lollygagging is involved, although my spies suspect that's not the case.
Beth: I tried to get a picture of his sister, Fern, but all I got were up-close noses and tail up rear views. She is particularly good at changing her pose when she senses a shutter or iPhone. I gave them their names because we live in a cedar forest with ferns...it seemed appropriate
Theresa: They are also animal shelter kitties. I thought they would stay small but they kept growing, calico Fern is a petite 17lbs.
2Ns: My 3 year old grand daughter called Cedar, 'Meowie' and she named Fern, "Other Meowie'...it worked.
CraigF: His eyes are very hypnotizing. I often wonder if he is reading my mind.
Lisa; I did not photoshop those intense, leaf green eyes. His sister's are an identical green. It is unnerving when they both stare at me with intent. Usually around breakfast time.
Adele: Cedar does get away with murder – of the mouse kind.
Kate - I thought Fern was licking her lips at first, but it's just her amazing markings. They're both beautiful cats. I'm hypnotised by those gorgeous emerald eyes.
What a beautiful moggy! Such intense eyes… Our sometimes cat (he's not ours, but he's made himself at home here and I'm a sucker and feed him) showed up this evening for the first time in months. Every time I come to terms with the fact he's gone for good (and explain it to the kids), he shows back up again. I think I'm going to change his name to Lazarus.
It's soooo late, but I have to chime in and say how much I ADORE this cat. I want one, I want one! Lifetime supply of Benadryl for the husband ought to do it. Kate - I envy you Cedar, I really do.

Oh those eyes! The disapproval cuts me to the bone. I best stop slacking and get back to Thanksgiving (Canadian) prep!

That's exactly, similar, vaguely like the cat I had for a weekend.

Right. Nap time, I think.

ReplyDeleteIt's a better thing to be mesmerized by these lovely eyes than to dwell on the Wild Week that Was. Lovely beast.
ReplyDeleteA cat with eyes like that could get away with murder. Just sayin'
ReplyDeleteLisa, I never thought about it before, but you're right about kitchens. They bring out the best in us, and the worst. Hope they kissed and made up.

What a great face! And clearly Cedar is ready to write :D
ReplyDeleteFor those who were curious about Cedar's sister, I posted a recent (10 minutes ago) picture at my sadly-out-of-date blog:

She has her brother's eyes....
(thanks Janet for sharing my kitty)
