Today's bonus content!

Ok, so I'm REALLY behind on the contest results.
I hang my head in shame, it's true.

But, there will be a regular blog post today (yay!) and I promise the contest results tomorrow.
(no, really!)

Meantime, if you're so inclined: there's a new widget thing on the blog for you to sign up for my brand spanking new mailing list! Yes! You want to do this cause daily blog posts and Facebook posts are just not enough, right?

And you can also link to it here if you don't see it on the left side of the blog.

Well...the mailing list is actually going to be mostly about client books. Much less Janet, much more Fabulous.

(and let me know if there's anything weird, crazy or eyebrow raising when you do, ok? This is the first time I've tried this and if the past is any kind of roadmap, there are going to be some entertaining bumps coming up!)

Of course there are prizes for signing up! Random drawing of email names for actual books! (Domestic US addresses only are eligible for print books; international addresses can receive electronic books.)

Questions?
Complaints?
Spelling errors?

Let me know!

  3. How exciting! But have you banished yourself to Carkoon for the idea?

I've signed up and nothing hinky happened from my end. Easy peasy.

  4. Hey, I can wait one more day to get my hopes dashed. Story of my (author's) life.

  5. Hey, I've had good luck winning stuff (books) from mailing lists recently. It's because I said I didn't like them all those months back, isn't it?

And one of those lists is one of your clients (the esteemed Mr. Somers), so clearly, I at least like some of their books. And your esteemed Mr. Corby gets good word of mouth reviews from my library patrons.

  6. At the risk of Carkoon, including a blog post from the week/month/however long between emails, would be a nice thing. Sometimes, I like to revisit your posts and having one in the newsletter would just be a good thing for me. But that's me. I don't really wanna go to Carkoon. Really I don't. I really hate Kale in all its forms...well, except for the Kale, white bean, garlic and white wine saute side dish at one of my favorite restaurants here. But that's it! I swear it is!

  7. Oh, and bacon. Did I mention the bacon? Everything tastes wonderful with bacon.

  8. I signed up. Put on body armor. Waited for funkiness to ensue. Alas, no funkiness. However, also no email. The pop up advised me to click on the email I received, but thus far...nada. I'll keep checking in case it's on a time delay.

  9. Ah, if had only waited ONE.MORE.MINUTE. Got it. All is well. Guess I can remove the body armor now...

  10. Ooh! Mailing list! Fantastical!

2n's I cracked up at your spelling correction. Just hilarious. :)

  11. 2Ns: I thought that was the French spelling.

Signed up and just waiting for the link to appear in my email. Will.Be.Patient.

  12. Signed up. Waiting for email.

Almost as bad as waiting for a query response. At least it's not NORMAN.

  13. "Thank you for your query, however your email address is not a fit for what I'm looking for at this time. Please query widely; there are other agent newsletters. Love, Janet."

    ;)

  14. Is there a magic word we have to mutter as we subscribe? I signed up and it's been 7 minutes I've been waiting for the email to confirm...nada, rien, zilch.

Okay, strike all that! I've enlisted.

  15. Colin, that was awesome -- hahaha! I am happy that the newsletter accepted me.

nightsmusic, as a matter of fact, we just had steamed kale with bacon for dinner a few nights ago -- yum, good. I bet on Carkoon they don't serve it with bacon, though. Which is fortunate for Colin actually.

  16. Yes, I was all set to comment and say "I didn't get my confirmation email! But then I did. Must have gotten lost due to the stolen street sign at the end of my street"

And who DOESN'T like bacon? (Vegans aside)

  17. All smooth runnings for me - Colin, you crack me up as always!

  18. I learned to eat Kale in the Oregon State Penitentiary and loved it. (That's a long story. Short version: My wife taught a class to inmates and we were invited to a banquet they prepared. Recipe was from WAYYYY down South.)

Thank you Janet for all you do.

  19. I signed up. Twice. I have popups blocked, but announcement that I needed to wait for an e-mail came up in a new tab - which I LIKE, but I missed it. So I thought (as I am wont to do) that I forgot to hit 'Subscribe' (something else I am, alas, wont to do), so I hit it again.

Let's see if I confuzzled your system as much as my brain.

  20. Ah. I got two verification e-mails. If I only verify one, I should be OK, right? Anyway, I've done so.

  21. I made it! I'm on the list. Phew... It was a long wait for that email confirmation.

  22. I saw the box and signed up before even reading the post. All I could think was, "Yeah! I want to be on Janet's mailing list." I don't have any problem with getting news about books I'll enjoy reading.

  23. Late to the party as I'm travelling. But, because I'm Jearl, I had to give it a whirl.

Keep your comments succinct. Any comment that runs longer than 100 words is generally too long.

If you're commenting more than three times a day, it's too much.
