sorry for the delay

Argh! All day on the train, home from Bouchercon!
NO WIFI on the train!!!!

Wifi on the train TO Raleigh of course,
but not on the way back.

Will try to be back on track tomorrow.

  2. Between the QOTKU and Her Grace, the supply of exclamation points for the remainder of the year has now been exhausted.

Glad you returned home safely, Janet. Apt metaphor, but maybe you should stay off [the] track for a few days. :)

  3. All hail Her Grace!

Hopefully you got a chance to rest up on the train, in that case, Janet :D
I imagine we'll all survive until you're rested and back on track :)

  4. BACK ON TRACK!
    HA!
    Girl on the Train...

  5. No WiFi! Sometimes I dream that happens to me. Did you relax, read the stack of books I'm sure you collected at Bouchercon, stare out the window, sleep...?

  6. @ Julia- :D We're awful, aren't we? Bring on ALL THE TRAIN PUNS!

There's not that many...I'm sure I can see the light at the end of the tunnel...

  7. Yay! Glad you got back okay, Janet. :)

The shuttle back to Carkoon was brutal. But it was a shuttle back to Carkoon--what do you expect? Kale chips, lima bean dip, and "50 Shades of Stegosaurus" as the in-flight movie. Ah, well. Life can't be Bouchercon all the time...

  8. Great to FINALLY meet you.

  9. Hmm, was there really no Wifi on the train, Janet, or did you spend the entire trip home at the bar?

Julia, W.R., et al, Janet wouldn't have her drink in a bag, of course not! I picture the QOTKU in the dining car.

Anyway, I'm glad you made it home safe and sound.

  10. Whew! I thought Colin and Donnaeve had enjoyed your company so much they kidnapped you.

Echoing others, hope you were able to dig into the TBR pile.

  11. Take your time. It's not like any of us are on the edge of our seat to hear all about the Great Bouchercon Escapade. Oh no. Our lives are exciting enough without living through yours.

    Excuse me. Must floss.

  12. Colin was supposed to negotiate his release from Carkoon. If he was successful, there might have been hope for me to one day escape. Still I am pleased Her Sharky Majesty has safely returned home.

  13. Lisa: Don't think we didn't consider it. Her Sharkiness was, indeed, great company. In the end, we couldn't agree on where to keep the water tank. :)

E.M.: Darn! It didn't even cross my mind. I was too busy enjoying Janet's tab that... hey... wait a minute! Why that sneaky shark!!

  14. Colin, she is a sneaky one. While you were gone a tofu factory opened on your property line. Kale tofu is a horror from which there is no return. Ah well. Back to the evil librarian tales. It seems it is all I am able to write on Carkoon. My heart felt story of a boy and his pet marmoset caused the Carkoonian Literary Authority to lock me in Kudzu Prison. At least it's shady.

  15. Well I got the latrines clean for Colin' s return to Carkoon. Hope it passed inspection.

  16. 2Ns: I did have the opportunity to examine your latrine work not long after I got off the shuttle. Who-knows-how-many-hours of warp speed with lima bean dip in your stomach has consequences, you know.

They smelled lovely, at least initially... :)

  17. For my #2 and #3 sons, all day on the train, with or without WIFI, would have been heaven. I am confident that I speak for them when I say you must have had a wonderful trip!

Hope you had a restful night. Glad you're home safely.

  18. I hope you had a wonderful trip, though I know you'll be exhausted for a day or two. I wouldn't worry about the blog. You know how the minions are, toss them crumb and they're busy for hours if not days.

It sounds like all who went had a good time.

    I'll be waiting for reports.

  19. WR, pretty sure she was making up fantasies about all the people she saw...

  20. When I went to the workshop near Seattle, I chose to fly to Vancouver, BC, then take the train between Vancouver and the Tukwilla station. It was my first time on a train. I was looking forward to whiling the time on the internet... but even though the train's wifi showed strong, anytime I tried to connect, my tablet said the signal was too weak. So no wifi, either way. That was okay, because I was so tired - both ways - that I slept a lot, but it would have been nice to be connected. Less worrying about accommodations at the destination.

Colin: I would have thought you'd be negotiating your own release.

EM: If I remember correctly, you're still only there temporarily (unlike Colin). Don't suggest that the QOTKU do more than she does already, try to stay away from evil librarians (literally and figuratively), and you may get back again. Although I hear it's warm there in the winter...

  21. Train puns. Now you've got me started! My fav ...

    Q. If you weigh a train on a railway, where do you weigh a pie?

    A. Somewhere, over the rainbow.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Poof: groan..... It took me a minute to get that. "Weigh a pie" double groan....

    ReplyDelete
  23. BJ: It didn't occur to me. Clearly she used beer and charm to distract me from thinking about my exile. :)

    ReplyDelete
  24. Poof. Poof Poof Poof.
That was so bad, I actually laughed.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Colin: Well, she is a shark...

    (Still guilty-snorting at Poof's pun...)

    ReplyDelete
  26. Colin, don't feel bad. Beer and Her Sharkiness would charm me senseless. Now you just have to deal with my envy. I hope you write a detailed blog about your experience.

When I ran across Janet at WD conference, I did not get a chance to introduce myself. Her query workshop was directly before my pitch session. I would totally buy her a drink if I ever happen upon her again, and never mention my exile in Carkoon.

  27. Oh, and I meant to say HAPPY THANKSGIVING to our Canadian friends! :)

  28. E.M.: I'm planning a series of posts, one for each day I was there. The first post will be on Wednesday... :)

  29. Colin, I look forward to your posts:) Do link them here if you please. I know all of us will want to read of your reprieve from Carkoon

    ReplyDelete
  30. E.M.: I'll let you know when they post. Aside from my "how to hyperlink" article, I don't feel comfortable posting links to my own blog on someone else's. My blog's on the "List of Blog Readers and their Blogs" on the top right for those that don't know where to find it.

    ReplyDelete
  31. I understand, Colin. I will keep my eyes open for it. I hope you and Donna came away all inspired. Will your exile be lifted if you write a best seller?

    ReplyDelete
  32. E.M.: I don't think so. She'd probably claim the Carkoonian "air" is good for my creativity. :)

    ReplyDelete
  33. Love Poof's pun.

    Also wanted to say...

    LAST TO POST!!!
