I love Otter, and I've been looking at the wonderful illustrations on Sam Garton's website for years. In those pre-book illustrations, Otter Keeper was a man and I always assumed Otter was a boy. I was charmed. Now the book has come out and Otter Keeper's sex has been changed! And Otter is a girl! I am disappointed and confused as to why this was done. Sam Garton's website has also changed, and I can't find those other illustrations any more. Sob!
