Particularly today cause the comps are these:
The Sharkly Assistant took one look at MONSTERS and seized it from my fins. After reading it she said "If I had children, this is a book I'd read to them. Which is probably why I don't have children."
I love GOODNIGHT IPAD. I love it so much I'm going to give it to my youngest friend Charlotte. Don't tell her, ok?
And this darling book I'M A SHARK should be a required gift for every youngster in the whole world.
You'll notice Swoops the Bat is making sure no one steals this from The Reef. Yes he is perched in a mint julep cup. Yes this picture says everything you need to know about our office.

Fun! I'll definitely check these books out, especially Monsters... whiny kids be gone! (And that cover of Goodnight iPad... I laughed hard.)
ReplyDeleteI wondered when someone was going to write your biography. And I see you consented to having your picture on the cover too. ;)
ReplyDeleteI might have to get GOODNIGHT IPAD for my 8-yr-old. Thanks for the recommendation. :)
I might get "I'm a Shark" for my 3 year old - he loves sharks.
ReplyDeleteSo tempted to buy "Monsters Eat Whiny Children". Sounds like one of the titles I came up with to stories I used to tell my little brothers. I hate whining.
The shark book is adorable. I've read "Goodnight iPad." I MUST get a copy of the Monsters book, though. I know a couple of whiny children (some of whom are in their 30's and 40's), and this sounds like a good bedtime story for ME! Catharsis, anyone?
ReplyDeleteHmm...I'm definitely thinking about getting that Monsters book. My 4-year old is entirely too whiny. *grin* Thanks for the recommendations!
ReplyDeleteI have children, and I want the Monster book.
ReplyDeleteWho wants a bed time story?
I want them all.
ReplyDeleteI think I can understand a little bit. I get so excited when agents post about books that have just launched from their clients and they sound like they might be a good comp title for something of mine. They instantly go on my TBR list not so I can scope out the competition, but because I'm eager to look into the brain of someone who might be similar to me.
ReplyDeleteThat said, I wish I could borrow someone's kid to read to because these books are awesome. Heck, I have an adult friend who might need "Goodnight iPad".
Indeed, that shark is adorable. Let's have another look. Here it is grown up, bullshit free, and all liquored up.

I LOVE the name of the author of Goodnight iPad! Very clever.
ReplyDeleteGreat, Judith! I wondered if anyone else would notice that appropriate nom de plume.
ReplyDeleteAnd indeed, I will now buy Why Monsters Eat Whiny Children for my 4 year old, who's just entered a whiny-phase.
ReplyDeleteCheers! :)
