Fawlty Premises --the new hotel for certain writers

Query Shark- just found your site. I look forward to reding some of your responses. But since you say you keep repeating yourself, pointing out recurring mistakes, I can't see the sense in reading them all. But thanks- this site is very helpful. I look forward to reading most of it.

You'll know which part to read cause it will be the part you read.

  1. Gee, to think I wasted all that time reding ALL the archives. I mean reading.

And the saddest part: My query STILL stinks! At least, that's the theory I'm choosing to operate under.

  3. I saw it as "redoing", too. Heh.

  4. So... a fawlty tower would be the actual 300,000 word MS that represents the first fictional novel in a trilogy about a shark youth's quest for the perfect kill?

  5. @lh/MM,

Could be worse. I submitted my query to Ms. Reid before I knew about Query Shark, or Query Tracker, or really what a query was/is/will ever be. Or in the words of Marty Feldman. "Could be worse. Could be raining."

  6. This is priceless. Sad, but priceless. Also, I initially read it as "redoing," but I think my brain was just trying to turn reding into an actual word.

  7. Well, he *is* Troglodad. So the fact that he can type on a keyboard means he's come a long way. I read all the Query Shark archives and I think it helped me a lot. My query letter is decent. Yet it's been rejected like 50 times. Ain't no help for us in Publishing World.

So, I'm off to write 50 Shades of Turquoise... vomit it out, no revising... It's easy work, people. It's where the money is.

  8. @Kay - I loved your work "50 Shades of Turquoise." It really made me turn 50 shades of green...with envy.

  9. Redleg, did your leg also turn green? I can't see it from my spot under all these hundred dollar bills/fans/movie deals.

If you're commenting more than three times a day, it's too much.
