Formatting in the digital age

I read all incoming full manuscripts on my Kindle.
That means I request all manuscripts in .doc form.

That does NOT mean you need to reformat for what you think is the Kindle size.

Just send it as usual: one inch margins all around, 8.5 x 11 paper.
The Kindle does the adapting.

Add this to the list of one LESS thing you have to obsess over when sending work to agents.

  1. I am a fan of your blog although I've never commented. However, when I read this post today, I realized your just the person I need!! If you would be so kind, would you please explain how you download manuscripts onto your kindle? I've been trying unsuccessfully and would REALLY appreciate a tip. Thanks, Donna Koppelman djkoppelman@mchsi.com

  2. I email it to my Kindle as a word .doc attachment.

Keep your comments succinct. Any comment that runs longer than 100 words is generally too long.

If you're commenting more than three times a day, it's too much.

Civility is enforced. Spelling/grammar mistakes may be pointed out ONLY in the blog post itself, not in any of the ensuing commenter's contributions.

If your comment doesn't show up, it's most likely that Blogger ate it. Try posting again using a GoogleID. (comment moderation is on only for older posts)
