I love the cover of this book

and this book you CAN judge by the cover: it's as charming as the cover!

Don't take my word for it.

Here's the New York Times review, and another in Minnesota (where all the writers ARE above average!)

  1. I do, too. But I'm not going to lie to you...the non-bicycle friendly heels are worrying me...

  2. I like the cover, but if I were her I think I would ride the bike and let the violin walk.

  4. Gorgeous cover. I took up the cello a few months ago (HARD instrument to learn as an adult!) and definitely want to read this. Thanks for the heads-up!

P.S. A bearded and mustachioed lady?? I love crazy musicians :)

  7. As a cellist, all I have to say is Yikes! They make cases for those things! With handles!! And she's holding it by the fingerboard!!!
    But it is pretty funny.

  9. I like the bike. It has fenders. No more mud up your frets.

  10. I like it too, but my daughter is a cellist and so I agree with Lily as well. Yikes!

  11. It makes me wonder what the title has to do with the picture.

I was in downtown Austin one time, parked at the curb. I saw a guy with this cello go to his little car and put the cello in the backseat. The handle (you can tell I don't play or I'd know the correct term... maybe, neck?) stuck out the window. He got in, pulled out into traffic and left. I'd be so worried doing that in traffic!

  12. I would probably pick this book up to see what it's about.

  13. Yeah. My first thought was, there's no way she could play a cello in that skirt.
My second thought was, it must be her ex-boyfriend's cello anyway because no one who actually liked a cello would ever transport it that way.
    Pretty but dumb.
