Ramona and Brendan

Ramona loves Brendan
Brendan was not a cat, he was a Perfect Being in cat form. We were blessed with his presence for 18 years. He was tolerant and kind to other cats and he was always calm (except when he first saw a duck; ducks in Brendan’s world had no right to exist).

When we brought Harper and Ramona home Brendan was 16 and the kittens were multi-ounce unhealthy furballs. Brendan took one look at Ramona, looked at us and said “Did you know she’s a Girl?” We had only had bachelor boys till them.

Ramona took one look at Brendan and said, “He’s so big, so handsome, so strong! I love him!”

Brendan had a happy old age with his young sweetheart.

  8. I love this, it reminds me of when Skye, our elder Australian Shepard, was assigned Beau, our adopted little French Bulldog that had just moved in.

The change in Skye was instant, with a new mission in life of tutoring the lil' frenchie.

His final few years were with renewed vigor, mostly not letting Beau upstage him in front of us feeders.

  14. Once, in a previous millennium, we had a pair of cats with such affection for each other, and in extension, for us.

Since then we have had feral cats shanghai us, and their ways are wilder. They will cuddle together while sleeping, probably a leftover from kittenhood, and will cuddle us, some, but mostly they do individual things.

The picture is lovely and brings back many things.

    Thanks Sharyn for the picture

  18. I just love this picture so much. So touched, it made me cry too (happy to hear I was not the only one :)) It really is so sweet. Brendan is one of the characters in my novel, however, not as charming as feline Brendan.

  20. I can't stop staring at Brendan's expression! What a cutie! Just look at his side-eyed-one-brow-raised-smolder a la a young Marlon Brando. I'm so glad he and Ramona found each other <3
