  3. Aww... Look at precious little A Lot in all his holiday finery.

We're the only humans here at the sanctuary. I'm missing family members who have passed, family spread out all over the country, our kids, grandkids, and friends who are like family, but I'm grateful for the comfort of the animals who live here.

And I'm grateful for all of you. Janet! Thank you for everything you do. Sending love...

  4. A very merry Christmas to alla youse guys. Thanks for the good times past, and best wishes for good times (and for those of us* what needs it, good luck catching the right agents' eyes) in the future.

    * Yeah, I know it's bad form to give yourself a gift, but since I'm sharing it, I hope it balances out.

  6. Merry Christmas Everyone! Our choir sang Saturday night and 2 Sunday night Masses. Wrapped presents until 2 a.m. Had to be at work at 5 a.m. Just got home. Biscuits are in the oven and family is gathering. Don't know how long I can run on 2 hours of sleep, but we're about to find out. Hopefully long enough to open presents, cook dinner, and bake a cake. So far so good...

  8. Peace here in the valley. Another foot of snow, himself plowed our driveway and the neighbors while I shoveled three walkways, one deck, one gas tank and the path to the firewood.
Woodstove going, cats sleeping, re-reading a favorite book. Christmas dinner here is on Christmas Eve.
best wishes to all from the Frozen North.

  9. Happy holidays everyone! Much appreciation to you, Janet, and the entire community here. You all have provided a sense of community throughout a nutty year when I didn't always feel I had one. THANK YOU.

  11. Oh. My entry in round 1 hasn't shown. I posted with an hour up my sleeve but it was just after midnight Boxing Day morning and I was tired. Blogger told me comment moderation was on which I thought odd but didn't question because I wanted bed. I guess Blogger ate it. Now I'm going to miss all the "fun". :(

I hope everyone in this wonderful community is having a day full of Christmas cheer.

Merry Christmas to everyone. I'm grateful for you all. And I learn so much here, especially from Janet. Thank you.

  20. I hope you are all in the midst of a safe and happy Holiday Season. It seemed to take so long to get there this year, either that or the rest of the year flew by. I think that is it.

    Happy Holidays folks.

  21. Happy Holidays! Christmas is but a memory for us in the southern hemisphere now, but I hope you all have as enjoyable day as we did!

  22. Blessings and peace to all! Everything got finished, and the company left a half hour ago. I think the word for tomorrow's story should be exhausted. (Is there a word for "happy exhausted?")

Melanie, my daughter is thrilled with your horse book!

    Good night all!

  23. So, so late to the computer today as it was filled with little beings excited at everything, unexpected snow, untraditional dinner of teriyaki chicken wings and artichoke/spinach dip (don't judge-we had roast beef on the Eve) and the fastest drive down I-5 we have ever done (don't judge-our traffic is so epicly bad that the speedometer crept up of its own accord when it saw free road ahead.)

So tomorrow is a no comment today as we will get some more prompt word(s).

So Merry Christmas to all as it winds down. Hope it was all you wished for.

A.J. Blythe Dang the bad luck! I say enter round two anyway. Maybe there is a prize for persistence in the face of adversity. If not, we could always take up a collection, or start a crowd fund!

  25. RosannaM, that's an idea. Maybe I can still join in the fun, even if it isn't in the running? Mind you, that probably doesn't change anything anyway.

For posterity, here's what I did try and enter:

My addiction gives me pleasure. Unlike the victims of my habit, but I’m no jailbird. Yet.

I peer down the barrel. Steady myself. Never thought of myself as a twitcher.

  28. Happy holidays to everyone. Would love to be part of the fun but I feel like the 'alot' looks. Damn cold.
Had the best Christmas ever though, so not all is bad.
May all your fa la las lead to a hap, hap, happy New Year.

  29. Joyous Solstice! and Happy Holidays to all of you!!!

(I love Winter Solstice because that means the Sun starts it's path back and stops setting at 4:15pm and rising at 8:15. That's only 8 hours of sunlight... even less with the Pacific Northwet clouds!)

  30. I got to do the coolest thing ever. A friend of mine, a fellow artist and creator (he is a singer with his own locally successful band) asked me if I could help him get some autographed books for his girlfriend.

She is a voracious reader and he wanted to get her something special for Christmas.

I said, "Here, hold my beer."

I lit the fires and summoned the clans on Facebook and in short order had 20+ books with personalized autographs (mine included) winging their way to my friend.

Some we bought, others we paid postage, we made requested charitable contributions, and humbly accepted gifted books from authors the likes of Hank Phillippi Ryan, Allison Brennan, and Mark Greaney.

The whole surprise went off with Seal Team 6 precision.

    Writers rock. Alot.

  31. I hope and pray you all had a wonderful day yesterday and continue to have wonderful days! Ours was low key but perfect. Sunday we played mainly Christmas carols at church, but the funnest versions I've heard, much less played.
Terri Lynn (do you use both names?) that was awesome. You go.
I was hoping to do the holiday writing contest, but have just had too much going on. I can't complain at all, though; it's a great holiday.

  32. Keep searching for an update. Really hoped 9 a.m. today would solve everything. Please, if anyone knows information--and I'm sure there are plausible explanations--let us know.

    Positive thoughts.
