Ascent of the A-Word by Geoffrey Nunberg

I am a devoted fan of John McIntyre of The Baltimore Sun.

Anyone who loves words and word play and a good slap up the grammar noggin will too.

His review of Ascent of the A-Word: Assholism, the First Sixty Years (Perseus/Public Affairs) by Geoffrey Nunberg, the learned and urbane linguist,  ends with  "I encourage you to look closely at his insightful and witty book, which tells us a great deal about who we are by looking at the way we talk to one another." (italics mine)

You bet I'm buying a copy!

Keep your comments succinct. Any comment that runs longer than 100 words is generally too long.

If you're commenting more than three times a day, it's too much.

Civility is enforced. Spelling/grammar mistakes may be pointed out ONLY in the blog post itself, not in any of the ensuing commenter's contributions.

If your comment doesn't show up, it's most likely that Blogger ate it. Try posting again using a GoogleID. (comment moderation is on only for older posts)
