Help me rename the New Wrinkle Query Experiment!

As regular blog readers know, I'm trying out a new approach to queries between 7-8pm on Saturday nights through August.

I've been calling it "new wrinkle" and frankly, that name STINKS!

Help me find something with a little more zest!

Post your suggestions in the comments column of this blog post.

And no, "Janet Reid's Idiot Idea" is not going to win!

  1. I've been reading too much Jane Austen recently, but how about " Rhyme and Reason?"

  7. I like The Golden Query Hour, or GQH. Yeah, it's simple and not particularly humorous--but so am I! :D

  8. The Dance With the Shark Hour

  9. It's way too early to be thinking about drinking but here's my list:
    Querytini Time
    Querytinis
    Query Shots
    Query Shooters

  10. Reciprocity. Or perhaps Reid's Reciprocity.

It sounds ominous, which seems fitting.

  11. Formless Response
    Deformed Response

    For two.

  12. Saturday Night Special ;)

    ReplyDelete
  15. Query Power Hour

    The Shark Bait Date

    ReplyDelete
  16. Query Happy Hour or just Happy Hour :)

    ReplyDelete
  17. Happy Hour! And we have a bartender! Oh wait...

I do like Happy Hour as a name though. Such wonderful connotations!

  18. The Shark's Para-Dine Shift...

  19. Piece of Mind (as in Janet's mind)

  20. Since "Saturday Night Live" is taken . . .

    Sharkurday Night Live
    Saturday Night Shark Attack

    or a simple

    You Asked For It . . .

Building on one of the above,

    The Saturday Night Chum Bucket

    Let's see:

The Query Games (an apt simile)

    Dauntless! (oh wait . . .)

    Purgatory Quasm (dang it . . .)

I'll stick with Saturday Night Chum Bucket.

  21. I take mine back. I like Happy Hour better. Hic. After all, it will result in a spike in drinking on both ends.

  22. I like the GQH suggestion. I'm also partial to Free Swim.

  23. Reiding hour...is my suggestion.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Since you are ditching form letters, how about "deformed"

    ReplyDelete
  25. "Be My Chum"

    ReplyDelete
  26. Reid it and Weep. Reiding Glasses. Reid Between the Lines.

I'm just kidding. But I do love a terrible cheesy pun- the cheesier, the better. But seriously, all the ones that imply that alcohol is involved are the ones for me.

  27. "Testing the Waters"

    "Saturday in the Shark Park"

    "Saturday Q&A (Query & Answer)"

    ReplyDelete
  28. Shark Bait Hour

    Chum Time

Not sure if you can use this one: Bait and Tackle (after all we send the bait, you snap the query, then we tackle the revisions).

    ReplyDelete
  29. Query Frenzy
    Shark Bites
    Jump The Slushpile
    Ask The Shark
    Query Shark's Nightime Nosh

Could the winners of this naming game (and the flash fiction contests too) get a complementary "new wrinkle" type query read — even if they are slackers and their manuscript isn't ready yet? ;-)

In the spirit of Query Shark, I would love to see an "anonymized" version of Janet Reid's replies published for this valiant new effort as well. Even if the published responses are only the "fails" — such as whatever is out of scope because she doesn't rep it. This will reduce the chum, uh … unnecessary clutter.

I suggest the name NOT include a specific day reference, in case the designated day shifts around. Ditto, for it to NOT include the word Hour, in case the time window varies.

  30. At first I thought QuikQuery or InstaQuery worked well. However, given the shortness of the moment, and that some will be satisfied while others are disappointed, I'm going with...

    Testing the Waters?

Sincerely, Janet (which implies the personal nature of the replies?)
