The Black Orchid Novella Award is given by the Nero Wolfe Society. Deadline is May 31 (ie SOON!) And there's an actual monetary award attached--sweeeet!
This is a little too late for me this year, but if it's an annual competition, I'll put it in my diary for May 2013. I love this genre and would very much like to try it out.
Wonderful! Thanks to Janet for posting this notification. To Helena, it is indeed an annual contest; we welcome your submission for next year's contest.
Alas, I do not write novellas. But I LOVE Nero Wolfe. In fact, I named my laptop Nero, and my cell phone Archie.
Nero (the laptop) mainly stays at home, is very useful for solving problems, and gets most of his work done from a comfy chair. He CAN go out, but rarely does, other than to the back garden, since I don't have a rooftop garden. Archie (the cell phone) is always on the go, is handy for bringing all the facts home at the end of the day, and keeps in touch with everyone.
Thanks, Janet--I was not aware of this. In fact, I have a detective novella hanging around that, with a little editing, might be a suitable submission. Cool! :)
Keep your comments succinct. Any comment that runs longer than 100 words is generally too long.
If you're commenting more than three times a day, it's too much.
Civility is enforced. Spelling/grammar mistakes may be pointed out ONLY in the blog post itself, not in any of the ensuing commenter's contributions.
If your comment doesn't show up, it's most likely that Blogger ate it. Try posting again using a GoogleID. (comment moderation is on only for older posts)
Cool, thanks!

ReplyDeleteMay 31? Sheesh, I'd better get to work. First, come up with a story...
