Friends of Mystery gets it ALMOST right!

The Spotted Owl Award, given annually to a resident of Alaska, Washington, Oregon, Idaho or British Columbia by the Friends of Mystery in Portland, Oregon has selected a winner.

Sadly, it was the wrong one.

Ok, all kidding aside, congrats to Phil Margolin, who won. Bill Cameron, fabulous client, is listed as the first runner up.

Maybe if Phil Margolin can't perform his duties as Mr. Spotted Owl, Bill will have to step in.

  1. As a Portland Resident, I have to say, I'm ashamed to have only just heard of this. Where have I been?

  2. Egads! Aren't the duties of the Spotted Owl eating mice and pissing off loggers?!

  4. Congrats to Phil - a fellow Portlander - plus I worked for Phil for a few summers, in his law practice - so I know him and it's always fun to live on the fringe.

  5. Phil is a fine man and a wonderful writer. I can't think of anyone I'd like to run up to more.

    Thanks, everyone! :)

  6. So close, Bill!!

I did hear Phil speak at my favorite indie book store not too long ago. He was really interesting and kind, so a good guy to lose to, if one must lose. ;)

    Congrats on #2, Bill! :)
