Marley and You

Fox was kind enough to invite me and a guest to the screening of Marley and Me tonight. Amy Tipton and I ventured up to 42nd Street, through Times Square at Christmas! to take in the show.


Even the most coldblooded of us needed a hankie!

    I'm so scared to see that movie. Dogs, especially if they die, are the one thing guaranteed to make me cry.

    I'm too scared too. same reason as Anne-Marie and Kristin. Just looking at that picture of Marley wearing that bow makes me tear up a bit. And if it makes the octopus cry - Gloriosa, you know there's no hope for the rest of us!

    Don't even get me started about Old Yeller. Marley & Me would be worse, though, because my dad has a sweet yellow lab. If Marley dies at the end, I'm toast.

    As far as cold-blooded grief, though, I heard octopuses cry at just about anything. Now, if the Assisssstant had needed a hanky...

    I'm going to be a geek, now. I read an article years ago about how some researchers think octopuses show personalities and emotion. This one is the best I could find, but it describes octopuses begging like a dog. Sort of circling back to Marley & Me.

    I was reading John Grogan in the Philly Inquirer for years before he every wrote M&M, including the column that led him to write the book in the first place, so I feel like he's an old friend. I'm worried that Owen Wilson will seem like an impostor. OTOH, the movie was filmed around where I live, so it'll be fun to pick out all the familiar sights. Hankies be damned!
